8 gpm presssure surging, losing pressure

There’s not much to them, so i get you’ll be able to ID the problem rather quikly.

If it was low enough for the gears to not be picking up oil it definitely could’ve caused it. I imagine it would’ve had to been really low for that to happen though. There’s really nothing to these gear boxes and they normally last years without issue. Look how long rear ends in trucks last or gears in transfer cases. Yours was just a fluke. It happens though. Don’t let it put a bad taste in your mouth. They’re only a few hundred bucks new. @Hotshot probably spends more than that on belts a year.

Im just curious if the input gear is able to be bored out a bit, but if its envirospec gearbox, probably not.

I hope I can get the gearbox off the pump without a problem. It will be my first time.

Belts, belts guards and sheaves don’t leak oil or need baby sitting. 4 machines = $160 a year in belts. Not having to worry about another leaky oil holder, Priceless …

Again @Clean_Blue im sorry for you troubles bubby. Call Dan at envirospec he’ll make it good.

Yeah I’m not a big fan of pullys either. I have to put a new 4 gpm pump on my Pressure Pro belt drive. I can’t see how to tighten the belts and reach a couple of the bolts holding the pump to the cart.

Saying a pressure Pro is a pressure washer is like saying a Yugo is car. Technically you are right, but not really. Belt driven is the Cadillac of pressure washers

Is that all you got to bring to the belt vs gearbox table ? Really?
Im disappointed in you lol. :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Anyone want to run some Fenner links?

Lol.
I actually have them to run my 6’ chicken fans in the shop, but there leather.
Do you like them @dperez ?

I’ve never dared to tempt fate. I get two years out of my pumps belts (6k hrs) and a year on my generator (3k hrs) running the German optibelt

All those other gadgets on your truck and trailer and you’re worried about a gear drive? A gear drive box is about as basic as it comes. It’s just a couple of gears. You’ll have issues with your pump or engine long before you will a gear drive box. They should easily outlast your engine and pump too. They rarely leak or have any issues with them. Pour oil in and let em run. If you think a gear drive is something to worry about you might as well go back to horse and buggy. You have hot water machines so you don’t really have a choice but to have belt drive. If you ran a cold water machine we’d have you running a gear drive in no time. Bill just so happened to get the first ever lemon…lol

I don’t understand. You just got it in March, it’s only first week of June, so are you saying that it’s been leaking oil basically since you put it on? Did that not concern you or raise an alarm that something might not be right? I’m not particularly mechanically inclined but if I’ve ever had any piece of equipment start leaking oil I’ve checked it.

It was a slight leak and I couldn’t figure out where it was coming from. I ordered new oil fill cap for pump because water got in and I thought it came from top of pump, then oil drain plug on the pump because I thought it was coming from there then finally after I had to move it into my trailer from truck bed to replace a down machine I saw it drip. It would only leak when running and just a small amount. I couldn’t take it out of service to fix so I would just add oil. It took almost 2 months to need oil so I didn’t think it was the gear box. Then 2 weeks later more oil and then it had a big loss in one day. Originally I didn’t see it as an emergency. I thought till I got an o-ring for shaft, if that was the problem, I could just stay in top of the oil level. Boy was I wrong. Literally change in one day.

Good luck with it.
