8 GPM Gear Drive Build

Just curious, why an iGX800 for an 8gpm? The regular GX690 would have been plenty and cost half that motor.

I was looking at the GX690, but the IGX800 was $150 more so I made the jump. I think it was worth the jump to get the newer technology IMO.

I thought they were 500-600 more than the 690? No?

That is what I thought before I decided to build. I couldn’t believe it was just $150 upcharge.

Where did you buy it from?

Where mine is, but mine is a solid stand.

North Georgia Airliess

I like that set up. I will welding my own stand on the back of my trailer across from the 4 GPM unit.

Also, are you fueling the 390 from the same tank?

Thanks

No, I don’t use it enough anymore to go thru the aggravation. From what I understand kind of a pain with mixed results. Be sure to make sure your platform high enough to get to fuel cap easily with nozzle. Think mine in about 2’ clear from floor.

I finally got most of my parts in today for the build. I spoke with a rep from Udor and he recommended I use a Hi-temp silicone on the shaft and key for easy removal later if needed. I did a search but didn’t come up with much. I was originally going to use a marine grease and make regreasing part of my regular maintenance process. Anyone ever useHi-temp silicone on a gear drive unit?

Thanks

I am a newbie, but if I remember correctly I have read the high temp silicone recommend at least a handful of times.

@dperez is recommending c-5a here

So what was the actual price on the igx800, if you don’t mind me asking?

Around $1,500 plus freight.

Permatex 09128 Copper Anti-Seize Lubricant, 8 oz. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000HBM8HU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_WE3XVA26P67RB9RS4NPT

$1500?? Why is that cheaper than a Gx690?

That is the reason I chose the 800. I believe that the 800 will be replacing the 690 at some point, but not 100% on that.

I used high-temp ceramic brake parts lubricant. You can pick it up at any auto parts store, very close to the permatex product linked up above. Marine grease and silicone are both less than ideal products for this application.

Best price I can find on a iGX800 is $2800, many sites are listing at $3600.:flushed:

Dc, are you in the states? I have seen some 10GPM belt drive units on sale with the IGX800 for $3300. I also did not see much pricing info on them online tho.

I called Udor again just to double check on the Hi-Temp silicone option. They told me again to avoid using the anti- seize and use Hi-Temp silicone. He said they have been doing for over 10 plus years and have no problem removing gear boxes. I am mechanically inclined, but this is a new one for me. I do have some Hi-Temp silicone and may give a shot, especially after confirming with Udor again. We will see how it goes.
