4-Story Vinyl Siding with Balconies

@awesomewash1 washing that building with an Xjet would take most of a day and a lift. Can you imagine dragging around a pail or what ever up and down breezeways and all around that building?

Seriously though, how would you get this washed in an hour and a half. Super confused here.

I actually explained that in detail about an hour ago, scroll up. A lot of paychecks go out every week. I do this to make money. There is no Xjetting, wetting the sides before soaping, waiting on water from water spigots that put out 3 gpm. Efficiency is king.

Thanks for the input guys! I’ll have to think over my pricing again tomorrow. I was thinking maybe I was a little high. This would be a nice late season job for us since there are a few of these buildings.

The back side of the building does have divided balconies. I figure we can access them via ladder for levels 2 and 3. The PM says we can go through the rooms to access the 4th level. So I did factor in some PITA factor there.

Do you guys stay linear with your pricing as you go up in stories? Say you are at $.10/SF for 1-story. Are you 4X for 4-stories, or are you less considering there is is less moving around? Like maybe 3X?

If you are just doing the siding why are you laddering the balconies? Remember insurance requires you to be bonded if you enter a private dwelling usually.

you say the bidding is high, I just bid 2k on something that will most likely take me 5 hours to do. I have a good feeling they will accept my bid based off my sales pitches.

I’m hoping for 300-400 an hour on that one.

If it was me and my area id bid 5k.

Youre not their accountant.

Ok so i read your post and I am assuming your bring tons of pre mixed chemicals and hook up to a fire hydrant to rinse.

No. Not at all. Where do you get these ideas. We downstream from a 65 gallon tank. The hydrant fills the buffer tank. Water spigots don’t provide enough incoming water for the machines. Two or three trucks can work off of one hydrant typically if the buildings are close enough. We just manifold off the 2.5 inch side of the hydrant

I am learning a lot here. What do you think is better in the long run, please keep in mind that I am just starting my business. Having one 8gpm machine or two 4gpm machines running two lines. I mostly work by myself right now, but I have big plans down the road.

m-jet and 7 gallon jug for the house wash mix.

Do you have to jump through any hoops with local enforcement to do this? Or is it free and clear since it is on private property?

Every city is different. Some charge a flat rate. Some charge per gallon used. Definitly have to jymp thru some hoops

Thanks again! This is a commercial resort/hotel property. They are going to arrange to put most of the guests in other buildings when they book. We are insured and bonded too.

I figure it might be a little hard to get the 3rd and 4th story balconies completely washed from the ground. There is dirt and cobwebs everywhere. I want to make sure we get everything. Plus there are outlets on all of them and we usually tape those off.

For starters, 2 guys will never finish that in 1.5 hours. Second, rarely are fire hydrants close enough to use at multi-unit sites and what a hassle trying to use them all the time anyways nobody does that unless you are filling a large buffer tank to tote water in. Use the water spigots on the building and give yourself 4-6 hours to complete properly. Collect check.

4-6 hours? That’s a ridiculous amount of time, IMO. For only one building? He’s just softwashing it or am I missing something?

Who’s your new friend?

By law hydrants cannot be more than 500 feet from a commercial structure. Most have one located between the buildings, curbside. My biggest water tank is 125 gallons. Others are 65 gallons. It takes about 2 minutes to open, flush and hook up to a hyrdrant.

Not sure what that means

If you are referring ro the Tim guy he pops in occasionally talking about organic fruit and weird stuff. Most of us don’t think he owns a washing business but who knows. He is mainly hsrmless and adds humor to the site. He may be the alter ego of @BuzzLightyear

Edit: What he said. ^

It takes less than 5 minutes to hook up the meter.
