12V Pump for cheap

I added 22 gutter cleaning jobs at my leisure for a property manager last week. I did 7 of them yesterday in record time so I took the morning today off. I’ll go “into work“ around 1:00.

@Racer why would you leave this thread? It’s the only fresh conversation here in months. Lol. Everything else has been same old tunes on shuffle and repeat.

That’s the main thing I hate about having employees. Sometimes I just want to scrap my plans and change course but I have people waiting to get started every morning. I miss the freedom of working alone.

I listened to a book last week called Company of One. It has me completely rethinking my business. Pretty powerful stuff if you give it the thought it invokes.

Well, I’m too cheap to get an audible subscription, but I just listened to a YouTube interview with the author. He’s got a very cool outlook on self-employment/small business ownership. I can see how his philosophy would resonate with you. It definitely did with me.

I especially liked his idea of optimizing for “enough” vs. always optimizing for growth. I feel like that’s what I’ve been doing these last couple of years. But it’s true that ego can get in the way of that goal.

I purchased the audio book and I’m 3 hours into it as we speak. It’s a rainy day and I’m playing it on the shop sound system while I tinker with my car. Kinda wish everyday was like this. Maybe I need to retire…

Its just a moral thing to me. Say you posted an ad for $299 house washes but accidently wrote $29 and then all the people who see it hurry up and tell all there friends and within an hour you have 50 people demanding you honor the $29 price…do you go wash 50 houses for $29 each? Doubt it!

But again its a moral thing so if you even think its ok to try to take advantage of someone’s obvious mistake you should question who you are as a person.

And we are all fellow business owners. I don’t know. If rather email the people and say hey just a heads up you made mistake and you might want to go fix it. Said person would be so thankful for your generosity. Thats the kind of thing that makes me feel good as a person. I like trying to don the right thing. I’m also a godly man so that could be part of it I guess. Trying to get thru those pearly gates some day☺

I bought a small Ridgid jobsite box at Home Depot a couple of months ago to mount on the trailer. It was listed at 200.00 at the time. There were two left, one stacked upon the other. The department manager helped me load the box onto the cart. When we lifted the box, the one beneath it had a paper tag on it that said 149.00. I told him I’ll take that one. I got the box for 149.00 instead of the 200.00 they were going for.

I see alot of guys on here preaching those injectors…

That plastic is garbage.

But If your going to use those, I wouldn’t put a metal strap on it.

That’s what caused the break.

I think I need to read this book.

Yes. You do.

If you don’t go do them for $29 you’re the immoral one. Own your screw ups.

Dude,
You are way off your mark and you need to check yourself.
Moral thing? Really, you want to call this immoral. You need to think about who YOU are as a person.
You and Steve have blown this WAY out of proportion and have derailed a “Hey check out this deal” thread, into a SHAME,SHAME on you thread. (I’m sure most people have put this thread on mute by now because of it)
Grandstanding maybe? (Read your Bible about boasting, if you don’t have one I’ll send you one)
You are also speaking to a Godly man, as you put it. (you forgot to capitalize His name as you always should when referring to Him)
Scroll up and read, you will see both Brodie and I believed that it may have been a promotion and that we both said we didn’t feel that we would get the deal, and we didn’t
Who said it was a mistake? How would we know? It may have been a promotion for the new Amazon Business page.
No one was trying to take advantage of anyone, and no one was taken advantage of.
I own my mistakes, I have given many (too many) free washes because either I didn’t feel my methods did a good enough job or I felt the person couldn’t afford it.
I’m not going to get into a competition with you about who is the better Christian, but I feel you and Steve need to get off your high horse and get back down here with the rest of us sinners. You want to pass judgement on something that is non existent. NO ONE was trying to screw anyone out of anything. Go back and READ.
Matt 7 1-3 is coming to mind right now.
And don’t forget Luke 6:
Question who I am as a person? …PLEASE.
Check yourself first.(Remove that plank, buddy)
Hope to see you and everyone else on the other side of the Pearly Gates.

Geez. Y’all need to lighten up a bit. If the worst thing a person does is take advantage of an amazing deal that probably should’ve never happened then I think the world will keep spinning. None of us are saints and I’m pretty sure all of us are sinners. That whole rock and glass house thing. At the end of the day, NT is a multimillion dollar conglomerate that will never feel a thing if every member of this board bought a dozen at that price. They screwed up and somehow they caught it and the whole thing is over with. It’s very likely that all orders from the time of posting to now will be canceled and no amount of complaining and whining will get them to change their minds. If they do honor that price that’s their prerogative as the seller. Nothing more, nothing less.

One other thing,
Did you e-mail either Northern Tool or Amazon when you saw this to let them know of their ‘mistake’?.. When you first saw this?
Guaranteed you didn’t.
That right there makes you a hypocrite

Matt 15:7

See you one the other side
Regards,

The prob with America today is most businesses are sneaky little creeps just as some of you appear to be.

If it doesn’t bother you to be immoral and take advantage of others then have it.
Doesn’t bother me either. At this point in life I know most people are shady and I expect it.

I think you missed this…

It’s ok to have a discussion and explore different perspectives of what’s right, but it’s not ok to call people names because you disagree.

Ill be honest here and say that if I mistakenly put up an advertising typo or the newspaper made a typo in the advertising then I would just politely tell the customer that it was a mistake and that we are not responsible for an advertising typo then give them the real price it was supposed to be along with another 25 dollar discount on top.

We are not in business to loose money. I would definitely apologize about the error but most level headed people would understand that a $29 house wash would be impossible to do and make any money.
If the customer would not understand that then I would say that they are immoral in their beliefs.

You can barely go to burger king and feed 3 people for under 25 dollars. Think about that for a second…

So you’re not responsible for your marketing? Is it not your business? Do you not pay for the marketing? I might be wrong, but I do believe there might actually be something in my insurance that covers errors in marketing. Which would tell me that that is my fault.

If you don’t own your marketing what else do you fail to own in your business?

Who is responsible for proofreading your quotes?

One last question, if your employee breaks window and you get a call from a customer do you get to just say that wasn’t me that was my employee take it up with him?
