I personally would prefer 8 at 3000 if I using it to soap and everything else. Also by the time you throw 200-300 foot of house on there youre out of a chunk of psi. and you will not get as strong a concentration down streaming with higher GPM but when it comes to rinsing GPM is king.

What size engine?

13hp honda

You’ll need 24+ hp to get 8@3000 or 10@2500…13 hp ain’t gonna get it.

I’ve heard some people get away with 8 GPM at about 1800 PSI for residential cleaning with a 13 HP engine. You may be better off with a 5.5 GPM pump for it. That will give you 2500 PSI.

Thanks that’s what I was wondering

Myself and a few other guys have 8 @ 2000 or so with the 13hp. House washing machine.

How well does it work with a surface cleaner?

You get the tips(13’s I believe) and you can knock out a resi driveway no worries. We dont use it for that though so I cant say if its something you would want to do all the time.

I always liked the idea of a 13hp 8gpm just don’t know how well they hold up with every day use.

Gear driven with a Gp pump has washed 184 houses since the last week of August for one of our crews.

Wow. I’m i’m sold. are you soaping and rinsing or just rinsing

Both. Call Trey at powerwash.com. He will know exactly what you need.

ok sounds good, Brian thanks for your help.

Does psi or gpm help with sc guessing both

GPM determines how fast it cleans, PSI determines how clean it gets. For the most part anyway. More PSI can help you clean faster too though, because you can use a wider tips.

I have always been under the impression to run a 10 gpm machine and get the max effect of 10 gpm you will need a 1/2 inch line, which to me would make way to much work for washing a house and make it not a option, but I have found no factional data to back this up does anybody know for a fact wear this is true or not??

If sc = surface cleaner, than both PSI and GPM are important. PSI will aid in cleaning while GPM will allow you to use bigger surface cleaners and get the job done quicker.

A 13hp pushing 8gpm will work ok (maybe) with a smaller SC but its lacking a great deal in the PSI dept.

To get the max pressure with 10 gpm you need 1/2 inch hose but for washing a house 3/8 hose does just fine. You don’t need 3000 psi on a house and if you keep the hose to about 100 ft you don’t lose to much psi and can use it for cleaning concrete. we run 10 gpm everyday with 3/8 hose and very rarely do we wish we had 1/2 hose.
