Got a job coming up where the customer (ford dealership) wants their interior shop washed, ceiling and walls. We have done them before, they suck but we can do it. This particular job has brand new LED lights that although are enclosed, they are certainly not a waterproof enclosure. There is zero chance that they stay even remotely dry while doing the ceiling.
What makes matters worse is I am dealing with a construction contractor that is renovating the dealership, not the dealership itself. I brought up this concern to him he said not to worry as the lights are new and under warranty. Pretty sure warranty would not cover that. And when I asked for the building owners contact info so I could directly discuss the risks involved, he said he would rather not have him bothered. Two red flags if you ask me. I think just typing this out I have my mind made up to run from this one, but if I could get a few outside opinions that would make me feel better about it.
Walk. I had a powder coating place call me and they wanted inside washed top to bottom. Tons of shop lights, 440v equipment and crappy of outlets. No matter how much plastic and tape you use, something is going to get screwed up. Either walk, or charge the PITA charge
Thanks for the affirmation, I am absolutely avoiding this one. As an added bonus, after explaining the high risk to the contractor he just sent me an email back stating there may be “legal repercussions” for both me and him if I don`t follow through with the job, even though all I have game him so far is an estimate. This dude is a goof.
tell him to send the paperwork, this would be well worth a read and laugh.
I absolutely will. And it keeps getting better, he just called and insisted that a good way to get around the overspray issue is instead of pressure washing, is to use a backpack sprayer and wipe it off! On a massive 10 bay mechanics shop. This is just entertainment at this point.
Immensely gifted, educated and talented customer, from law to exterior cleaning advice . Makes our lunatics down here look good.
Walk away….
You mean run away!
Thats crazy try to scare you into saying yes with legal lol
