Y valve configuration on chem tank

I think i came up with a neat idea and i have all the parts. I run a 100ft 3/8 line on a reel that goes to my 35 gal chem tank. That line runs to my modified x jet gun. So im gonna put a Y ball valve splitter between the 35 gal tank and a 5 gal bucket which will have water and SH neutralizer in it. When im done with post treatment i can turn off the chem tank and spray the water and neutralizer mix along the grass areas, and its also good for cleaning the gun, reel line, and reel manifold. Also handy if any overspray gets on anything i dont want it on. The whole thing cost me a bucket, a barbed drop stick, a $10 3 way valve, and a little line. The neutralizer is 50 bucks but its a minimal amount of ounces each job. 8 oz to 5 gallons of water but in reality 4.5 oz will work with say 3 gallons.

That setup sounds intriguing. We keep the xjet for only the purpose of spraying neutralizer, buy it in a drum, keep a gallon on each truck, and mix 8oz/5 gallons just like you said. We just run water through things to clean them out. Stuff tends to last long enough that it probably isn’t cost effective to be paying guys to do all that…but it could be something with the right system. Curious how it pans out.

Its just my little system on a 5x9 enclosed trailer. Theres alot of stuff in that trailer but its set up neat. When i add the skid plate to trailer mount the motor and add the reel stack its gonna be tight quarters. All accessories that dont hang on the walls will have ride in the van. I have one of those blue 55 gal tanks I would like to squeeze in to either be a buffer one day or a place to pump reclaim water. I eventually want to move into more commercial work as now i have the commercial insurance and i know alot of that commercial stuff will warrent reclaim. I only want small commercial stuff in my equipment limitations, i have no desire to was 14 three story apartments and will never be setup to do that. I did once long ago. What neutralizer brand do you use?

…no one would want to do that… :zipper_mouth_face:

We use a no-name brand that our old SH supplier supplies to large scale laundry facilities. But it’s gotten up to like $500-550 a drum (since I don’t get SH from them anymore, and prices in general), thought about looking into mixing up our own.

Lol. My daughter in law manages big apartment complexes and they pay those PW guys over 20K to do that kind of work and it takes em a few days.

It’s good work, if you’re good at it…I was poking at @Innocentbystander and his monopoly on that market…

Wish i had a monopoly on all the orlando driveways. Im targeting Churches going on the property, full of flat work, and sending personal snail mail to them with estimates. And HOAs offering a kickback. Just started my first batch of mail. Dont know how it will work yet. I think snail mail is better than email. I get 100 emails or more a week. I open none of them.

Why would you even think that is necessary. Do you usually post treat the grass? If so, how much do you charge? Maybe I’m missing a business opportunity.

No. I have never damaged anything and sometimes i go back and look a week later. Dont you water the grass if laying down 3% or more? Sidewalks are narrow and many pool so excess SH can damage. Im just trying to be pro and do a good job. I’m new and its important to me to have everything turn out good. I can wet the grass before pre treat but what about after on a post treat? SH is introduced again. Not trying to over think it, just trying to do it right. Every day i see guys post about problems they have with this, that, or the other. I dont want to be that guy. Just a quick wetting down the edges of the sidewalk grass. 2 minutes of security. Im wrong for this?

A hw mix won’t generally damage the grass. By the time you post treat, if anything needed stronger than another hw mix, don’t spray the grass, allow for it running into a low spot. Realize by this point, between cleaning and rinsing, you poured tons of water on the edges. A light post treat, staying away from the edges, is not going to hurt anything. I maybe post treat with anything stronger than a second hw maybe 1 in 10 times.
Here is a pretty dirty drive that I did this week. This is the photo after cleaning, but before any post treat. As you can see it doesn’t need much.

Looks great. I run a 4 gpm machine with a 18 or 20 inch SC so my pre and post is always 3%. Im not set up where I can change percentages for pre and post. For driveways that are not totally caked bad are you suggesting i reduce my mix? Not trying to be a smart â– â– â– , you know I will follow whatever advice you give over anybodys.

Why can you not vary your mix? Where do you live?

My mix is in one tank. To change it i would have to have a different mix in a bucket. Alot more work so i start and stop with the mix i have. I suppose on my x jet gun i could close the ball valve a bit and reduce chem pull.

Where do you live?

It doesn’t matter where he lives. If he tells you he’ll argue about it in the next post.

Orlando.

I was hoping he was relatively close, was going to invite him to come work with me a day.
