Xjet M5 or downstreaming personal use

I need to know what setup will be best for me. Last your we paid $250 for someone to softwash our house. My dad owns a 3000 PSI 3.0 GPM professional generac washer. It currently doesnt have any chemical injector kit working(someone broke it and he welded it closed) Oour house is a two story with wrap around front porch, with “doghouses” on the front. We used mold armor from home depot to presray the siding an washed with the pressure washer. However even with 16 foot ladder and extension rod it was hard to get the algae off the doghouses because we couldn’t get a good coating of cleaner on them. I am willing to pay some money to not have this trouble again… Would yall recommend the xjet m5 or please a specific downstreaming setup. I am concerned the xjet m5 might be too strong under the wrap around poarch.

Perfect for homeowners I imagine, but it’s hard for me to connect 3.0 gpm, “professional”, and Generac.

All you need is a 5 gallon bucket, a downstream injector kit, and a second story nozzle kit if you’re determined to do it your self. Tape off all your outlets and keyholes, bag all your lights and cameras if you have them, rinse really really well, don’t let it dry on your glass, and about 10 other things to remember if you do it yourself.

Or you can save your weekend trying to figure out something you’ve never done before and potentially damaging your home, pay the last guy who did it if you were happy with it, and take your kids camping.

I would pay someone who knows what they are doing to wash your largest investment. You have a piece of garbage pressure washer. Why add a $140 xjet to it? To use a downstreamer you would need to spend a couple grand on a used pressure washer as the one you have has been jury rigged. $250 sounds like a much better option and have someone do it for you.

Sounds like a bargain.

If that’s the case you need to invest in professional equipment and chemicals, not a cobbled together pressure washer with an X-Jet. Spending $250 on a professional house wash will always be your best option when you consider purchasing equipment, chemicals, personal protective gear, and then the ongoing maintenance of all of that, not to mention the labor to actually clean the house.

He didn’t get the doghouses completely clean you could see where the algae was

LOL I just typed what the top of his pressure washer said.

Did you tell him? Sometimes customers can be “southern nice” and not bring up what they want to or should even though they’re paying for it.

If you brought it up and he made an excuse as to why it didn’t get clean its time to fire him and find someone else.

I wish more customers would bring up stuff they’re not exactly head over heels over so we can fix it ASAP and it raises the bar for competitors. We all get better.

If your only concern is the doghouse just use a stronger mix. Wet the porch down then climb to top of ladder and use a Pump sprayer. Wait a few minutes then blast off with a jet stream from the water hose. Then rinse off porch

True, I was “southern nice”. He is the only one I know of in the area and is in his late 70’s. We are avid DIY anyway. We built our own house and put on the siding. So I guess I thought it would be easy to keep it clean ourselves.

I’m not the only one in my area and my average residential tickets are $600. Most houses washes are $379. He should’ve charged more!

Well… not if it’s not going to get done right. There’s a good chance he just didn’t see it. Shoulda given him a heads up and I imagine he would’ve made it right. Most people would I’d like to think.

Unless he’s an ornery, crotchety ol’ fella.

(@Innocentbystander is an ornery, crotchety ol’ fella and I know for point of fact he woulda made it right… so I apologize to all the ornery, crotchety ol’ fellas who do what they say they’re gonna do.)

You had me at southern. If you are within a 100 miles of Raleigh I’ll help you out

We are in Alabama so over 500 miles. we got it done this year just looking for a setup for next year. It is oddly relaxing/pleasing removing algae.

I’m in Hoover every year washing. Do you make tea like Mom does?

Just hit the high spots with a brush. Get this and send the extra $100 to me. Sometimes it’s handy to have a really long telescoping pole for other stuff as well. Much better DIY option.

If you mean lots of sugar yes

Congrats. You’re on the right track. You can get a downstream injector that will work for your pressure washer. Then all you really need are some low pressure tips. Fan spray for lower stuff, and 0° for higher areas.

Just keep reading up on downstreaming here. Then when you feel like you have a good grasp, call up PressureTek and tell them you need just the basics for housewashing with your 3gpm machine:
-injector kit
-nozzles
-1 gallon of Elemonator (soap that works better & safer than dish detergent, and will last you several years of washing your own house plus a few neighbors)

so you would recommend a downstream injector over me buying the Xjet M5? It will be used on my house which is the tallest, My brothers, and my dads (mostly brick) but vinyl trim, possibly my grandmothers which has a very tall place at the back (split level with basement). The doghouses is my biggest issue this go around. We were fighting the wind. We did our whole house this year with very few problems beside the doghouses.

Downstream over xjet any day.
