I don’t understand how straight 12.5% SH could make to weak of a mix. Expetially when it kills mold quickly.
Dumb question: were you on the trigger for the entire 11+ minutes? Because I’m struggling to see how you were able to kill anything with such a dilute mix.
Maybe when you tested it, your draw tube was suction-cupping to the bottom of the jug, slowing down the draw rate?
Most injectors would’ve had that gallon emptied in 4 minutes or less on a 4gpm machine. That would be ~15:1.
Yea I was on the trigger the entire time. The end of the suction tube has a round screen mesh filter on it and it looked clean to me.
Do an actual bucket test. Fill a measuring cup or a bucket with a known amount of water. This will be your sh. As your performing the test also fill up a bucket with your gun. Make sure it’d drawing and time for 30 seconds. Whatever the results multiply them by two to get how much per minute. You’ll then know your injector draw rate and how many gpm your pump is putting out. With that info you can figure out your percentage hitting the house. There’s more info on doing the bucket test on here. Might find a better explanation by searching.
@WiscoWashPros, are you using the built in injector that came with that
machine? if so junk it and order one from the store above. Also make sure
the gun you have is rated for at least 12 gpm.
Actually, yes I am still using the stock injector. I’ll ditch it and get a better one. Any brand I should look at specifically? Sorry for hijacking this thread
When you said you’re is 10:1 I assumed you were using the High Draw. Doubt your stock injector is drawing 10:1. Just get the High Draw for now. That’s what most use unless they’ve switched to the stainless metering injector. Don’t worry about that yet. Here’s the link. You can also buy it as a kit.
Be sure to open your old injector, rip out the guts, and install a plug. Someone else recently did the same but I can’t remember who.
I did the “unmanly” thing and read my pumps manual before I first used it. That’s where it said it was 10:1. I actually have a new injector I was using to build a 2 step gun. I’ll install that and recheck the ratio using the correct bucket test.
With a 4gpm machine you should be getting around 9-10 to 1. So shooting straight SH you’d be getting slightly over 1% hitting the wall. That will clean just about anything unless really bad as long as you’re using a decent surfactant.
I am using Elemonator. I want to try Apple wash as I hear that is also pretty good.
I lost many jobs because I didn’t stain. Never again. I bid the staining out at .50 per sqft per coat plus stain, I contract out the staining, earn markup at Sherwin Williams of $18 per gallon. Customer remains mine, and I pay painter his 80%.
No more lost jobs, and nice bonus for orchestrating. WIN WIN.
It’s funny you mentioned this today. I’ve been working on my relationships with a few painters so I stop losing jobs simply because of staining. Thanks for the info.
Why not stain? It is pretty easy to do. Curious why one would choose to outsource this part of a job?
I’m in the washing business. When we stained decks and fences it was a nightmare trying to schedule a crew that could stain to be in that neighborhood again two or three days later and hope that it didn’t rain. Washers shouldn’t paint and painters shouldn’t wash
I’m doing both and they compliment each other nicely.
I have seen some painters that shouldn’t paint and washers that shouldn’t wash however.
Not sure that I agree or disagree. Once again I bow down to the depth of experience while challenging the absolute-ness and bombasity of my good brother IBS(@Innocentbystander). A year ago he gave me some really great advice: I was struggling away with the staining of my own deck when he advised me to run away and leave the job to professionals. I finally hired those professionals, THEN I EMPLOYED THEM: They are already earning me money. While at our church picnic today they earned me $250. I just LOVE making money while at church.
If you make money while you’re at church you should put double in the offering plate lol. Today I sent the plate back down a row of teenage boys sitting together, my boys included, and whispered that they needed to put something in. Came back with at least $20 in it.
Well done! Actually, I washed the home of our pastors on Saturday and spent Sunday setting up and tearing down for our annual picnic My tithe is meager as I take little out of the company, but my back is still strong.
Tithes were cleared from our plate when Christ died on the cross and the curtain in the temple was ripped. So know, in addition to being able to eat catfish, we are encouraged to put in what we can, whether it be 10% or more, or less. Scriptural insight for the day.
