Wire Two 12v pumps

Don’t make it too complicated. If you’re just going to be running 1 - 12v, just run your wire from the pump to the battery. If you want a switch, divert the positive thru the switch. If you want to keep it really simple, just buy one of those 12v switches that plug into your pump and just have the little clamps to connect to your battery that have a switch. Anywhere from $20-$40. The NT one is pretty good, but can find similar cheaper, but not quite as heavy duty.

Yes sir I can do that, and currently do that in my garage with an SH pump. I use alligator clamps that are removed from the battery after rinsing pump, so the line never holds a load.

The battery to fuse to switch to pump wiring is less than ideal from what I have been informed. That the switch should never carry the load. There are several videos on youtube of SH slingers wiring their pumps like that and advising people to do it that way. They say that there is a potential for fire, the creation of heat in a closed environment, and that wiring it that way can lead to premature failure of the switch. Hearing that made me think what would happen if I went out to my rig while working on a house and saw my 12v rig spraying away.

I’m just following the advice I was given. I don’t want to be that guy posting the vid of his rig on fire or destroying someone’s driveway or flowerbeds. I know people will provide experiential anecdotes regarding times and ages, but who really knows where their switch was made, what it was made from, and how long it will last and what its true rating is. I’m just going with the an ounce of prevention is worth of pound of cure bit, which kinda goes against my KISS mentality…For those reading who weren’t in the military KISS-Keep It Simple Stupid. Also, for those reading, I am not debating Racer’s knowledge or experience, I am providing my reasoning and if he finds fault in my logic or reasoning he would hopefully point it out to me so that I can examine it and make corrections. I call this learning. @qons the socratic dialectic
