My new belt drive machine is like that, I think there all going that route, they say it needs full rpm to run my burner voltage correctly. I put a piece of wire on mine to pull it to reduce RPM, that makes more suction quicker and less foam out the other end when winterizing.
My other gx 390 belt drive machines have a throttle lever to easily adjust RPM. I like that better…
I remember @Chesebro not liking the WO rpm either. I’m with him on that.
I almost think they’re going that route to cut costs. I know they say they need to run at full rpm to keep cool but they’ve had throttle levers for decades and decades. It seems like it was the cheap Wal-Mart mowers to first get rid of the throttle lever years ago. You’re talking less springs, less linkage, less cable, no throttle lever assembly, less bolts, etc. That’s probably a 5% cost savings when talking about a cheap push mower and we all know those places pinch pennies. Heck, look how much automotive manufacturers pinch pennies even on a $50k truck. They’ll get rid of something to save 3 cents if they can.
Oh, I thought that’s what he was doing already but that it wasn’t pulling through.
Nope, never started engine, just pulled the cord a few times. That’s what I did last year, i.e. never started engine, just pulled cord maybe 4 times and the antifreeze dripped out the other end. Weird that it didn’t work this year.
gotcha, well what @Hotshot and @marinegrunt told you are the way to go.
We can’t do that because we also have 200’ of coil in the burners and 150 ’ of high pressure line to winterize , That be alot of cord pulling, I do see your point though. Did you add a DS line with a 3 way this year and didn’t have that last year? I’ve found that if I don’t have my DS lines shut off its harder to pull antifreeze because the DS is trying to pull air in.
Nope, nothing was different from last year.
… I’d like to know why to then ,just outta curiosity
Good deal!
You working for Jamie Davis again this winter @anon37135677
Only difference was that this year I believe there was one night where temps got below freezing. PW is in my garage. So I guess it’s possible water froze in it that night, but I tried the anitfreeze on a sunny afternoon where the temp was probably around 50, and I ran the engine for 5 minutes before trying again, so I gotta think any ice would have melted, but maybe I shouldn’t assume. I’ll see what happens when I try to run the anitfreeze through with the engine running.
Just waiting on the call. Doing a little bit of gutter cleaning… and did my last washing job of the year last night.
I bet it just had something to do with the pump being primed or water still in the pump last year. Any chance you unhooked the hoses or closed valve on your water supply while engine was still running this year?
Brilliant. that makes complete sense.
Enough typing…just go pour some anti freeze in your line and start the damn thing
Gutter cleaning includes removing large chunks of ice?
It did yesterday lol. It was only like that on a 8-10ft section on the back of the house so I chipped away at it for a couple minutes and pulled it out in pieces. That was a lot of weight in the gutter.
But for real, is that a normal part of gutter cleaning?
Not necessarily but if you show up to do the job and you think you can remove the ice without causing damage, then get it done. We had a bad snow storm last Monday so there was at least some ice in the gutters of both jobs I did yesterday.
It’s been above freezing for most of this week so most of the snow is gone and the ice isn’t stuck to the bottom of the gutters.
One reason why I stopped gutter cleaning as a service. Leaves drop here in mid Nov and coincides with our first hard freeze.
