Winterizing enclosed trailer

I understand you can put a small heater in a trailer to keep things from freezing, I just want to do this for a couple nights as I have a job in two days and don’t want to use RV antifreeze just yet.

My trailer has two vents, obviously I’ll take out the gas tank but should I tape those vents shut? Temps are dropping to 23f. I’d blow out the lines but my 12v takes forever to prime again.

Can you just close them? Maybe just stick or tape a piece of cardboard over them. Cardboard good insulation.

When I first got my storage space I found a cheap heater with a thermostat I think at NT. Just set to come on if it dropped below 45. Just aimed the blower towards machine but it was a pretty big space. In a trailer, anywhere should be good.

Thanks Rick, appreciate it.

I don’t have an enclosed trailer so I can’t guarantee anything would work. I agree with rick, get a unit with a thermostat otherwise it is pumping out heat regardless of the temp. Carboard works and you can get it for free. Otherwise you could pick up some cheap fanfold insulation or some duct work double-sided insulation (silver reflective type). You could just lay it down or install it on the ceiling and walls. I’ve kept my open trailer from freezing by placing used rubber roofing over the whole shebang and placing a space heater under it. You just need to keep it a couple of degrees warmer, but if you are getting wind you have include the wind chill too.

Just some pics/links (not recommending these specifically) comes in a variety of colors and with/without foil backing

This comes in all kinds of widths and lengths

From my understanding wind chill won’t matter in this case (only accelerates the loss of heat from warm surface (skin) to colder surface/medium (cold air) as more air travels over surface in given time). I setup a chinese diesel heater in mine. Works great if you’re often in this situation. You can set it on thermostat or remote control. The quantity of diesel used is negligible.

I put the heater on 39f, seems to be working. Once this job is done I’ll winterize everything.

I would agree if it was airtight, but I have a feeling that some wind will make it inside and directly hit the items trying to be warmed. In either case he doesn’t need help anymore.
