Wi dow cleaning

Got a call today from a local Mcdonalds in south jersey for window cleaning, can anybody give me any idea or tips on what the pricing would be to clean the windows inside and out? Just mop and squeegee?

Try the window cleaning forum.

That activity is illegal in many states

My advice: make friends with a local storefront window cleaner (preferably one who doesnā€™t do any power washing). The relationship will be mutually beneficial.

Thereā€™s just no money in storefronts, especially if they arenā€™t your primary service.

I gave up my storefront routes (yes, routes - the only way to make any money is to have a bunch of them lined up) several years ago, and never looked back.

I struggled to top $60/hr with mine, and Iā€™m a decently fast window cleaner. Thereā€™s absolutely no comparison to the other services I provide, especially power washing.

Mop and squeegee or cheeseburgers? Lol

I think heā€™s referring to the thread title :smirk:

Gotcha. I was just about to give up on society.

Oh man, used to do fast food 20 years ago. I still have nightmares. The hardened greasy handprints, old nasty food on the glass, having to do the drive thru between cars, needing to be there at a VERY specific timeā€¦and all for like $40.

Donā€™t get me started on KFCā€™s.

I concur. Run away! Thereā€™s no joy in storefronts period, and heartbreak aplenty in fast foods.

Pay yourself to walk away. Youā€™ll make more money!

Or just turn down the job by giving them an outrageous number. Then if you do happen to get it you will be paid properly for it

What should be more illegal is selling that garbage to people and calling it food!

I resent that. Fast food is delicious

I see this concept spread around a lot online. Personally, Iā€™ve come to hate the practice. Looking at it from the customerā€™s perspective, it comes across as price gouging. Or that youā€™re completely out of touch with the market. At any rate, it makes you appear unprofessional.

I guess itā€™s a little different when dealing with commercial accounts, but word still spreads.

I understand adding the PITA fee to jobs that deserve it. But deliberately trying to price yourself out of a job is just shooting yourself in the foot, imo. Just be straight with people that their project doesnā€™t fit in with the services you focus on, and then refer a couple of friendly competitors.

/rant

Yea i gave the guy a price of $580 and he told me the last guy did it for $79 dollars lol. Totally not worth it for me thatā€™s insane.

If the work sucks and you feel like you could lose your ā– ā– ā– , then you need to cover it. Itā€™s the unknowns that your charging for. When I say outrageous itā€™s compared to the ridiculous price some other sucker charged to do it before. Same thing as the post below. $79, stupid cheap. Another thing to consider is that businesses that only do window washing have much less overhead than our type of business. In fact when people call me to do the windows only, I tell them to call a window professional as I cannot compete with their prices, and they will do the insides, which Iā€™m exterior only. I only finish clean exterior windows as part of a complete home detail package. I have respect for the window washer trade, but letā€™s be honest, they arenā€™t running around in a truck that cost 70 grand fully equipped. Nor is there insurance as much, equipment maintenance as much etc. If Iā€™m taking a risk on a job Iā€™m going to make sure I get paid for the hoops Iā€™ll be jumping through.

100%.

Iā€™m feeling a little miffed ā€˜cause Iā€™ve been dealing with some contractors lately, related to relocating and installing a mobile home for my inlaws. Weā€™ve gotten a couple quotes that were clearly the ā€œwe donā€™t want this jobā€ price, and it left a sour taste in my mouth. So itā€™s a bit of a pet peeve of mine :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:
