I dropped mine in both books this year and yes, calls have slowed some.
I do I do! I get, roughly, a call a week from it. Actually had a call earlier today too.
At one point we were in 30 phone books. We are in one now… It is barely paying for itself… But its in a town thats important to us so we keep it.
Not anymore we lost money on it for several years with only a hand full of calls. Most of those price shoppers and the rest competitors trying to see what our prices ran.
I just started doing advertising on YP.com/partners...according to my website traffic stats, I have been getting a good number of leads from YP.com…mainly gutter cleanout…which I don’t technically offer, but I should because I have been getting so many calls about it.
I have been out of ALL phone books of any kind for 2 years now.
I am loving it too! I just laugh when they try to sell me on phone books,
telling me my business will never grow…HA!
Ya really can’t go wrong. You probably have all of the tools you need.
The only thing with the phone book is you cover the elderly as most don’t have internet. Bad thing about the elderly is their budget, so you’ll be getting lots of price shoppers
This year will be the first that we have used the phonebook it came out yesterday. I think the lady that helped us layed it out very well but time will tell right? So our next move is the Chamber of Commerce? has anyone had luck with them?
We have cut way back from what we did in the past.
We are now setup to pay per call…has saved me a lot of money doing it this way.
I dropped the phone book four years ago and have never missed it. I did get a few calls from it, but the ones calling me were alsocalling everyone in the book looking for the cheapest price. At $1,200 a year for the ad, there was just not enough rate of return.
When I realized the number of phone books that they told me that would be distributed were being put in motel rooms and stacks placed at the doors of a lot of business, where the owners told me that they would leave them there a few days then throw themaway, I knew the number of books being distributed was being very misleading. Then I started asking my customers how they found me and the phone book was last on the list of my other marketing I was doing.
But the last straw was when I come across this pile of new phone books set out by the street for the garbage truck to pick up. My ad wasi n those books, but it never was again.
Phone book may work in some areas…it doesn’t in mine.
