It’s me that has the picture. I doubt that I am the biggest. I only have 28 trucks, but some do run double shifts. I do government contracts. The majority of them are bus stops, but I clean about $400k in garages a year. I have a total of 35 employees, but my wife is only part time. You are welcome to call or visit any time you are in Phoenix, and I will give you the nickel tour.
That is me. You are welcome to come visit. I run 28 trucks, but some are on double shifts, and have 35 employees. You are welcome to come visit, and I will give you the nickel tour, if you are ever in Phoenix.
As for profitability, it is a little less then it was when I was an owner operator, but not much.
Fleetwash, hands down, is the largest power washing company in the country. Last number I heard was 80 million in sales. No other company even comes close. Competition for who is the second largest is where you will find a larger group.
Me on the other hand, I am much smaller. We have a fleet washing, kitchen exhaust and power washing sales companies. Not sure how you want to break that apart but we employee 85 for all the companies combined. Remove 10 for the pressure washing sales and that leaves 75 for doing the contract cleaning side businesses.
What part do you enjoy the most?

Over time I have learned to have the right attitude contributed a huge deal to being able to “enjoy” whatever it was I was doing. I have always enjoyed running my business. The challenge and sense of accomplishment has always been my largest motivation. I can’t stand the thought of failure and will try and try to make things work until there is a profitable situation.
If you would have asked me if I enjoyed fleet washing when I was working my way through college I would have told you "Hell No!!! I can’t wait to graduate to get a job.” That was an inexperience 20 year old that did not realize what he had. But then I graduated and I wised up real fast. Being a business owner was very rewarding and not everyone is cut out for it.
Anyway, I apologize for the long winded response but I enjoy fleet washing the most. To me it is simple and easy but maybe that is because I have been doing it for 30 years now this coming January.
Mike - you and Daryl Mirza have the largest Powerwashing companies I knew of outside of Fleetwash. We both have a mutual friend that is employed by Fleetwash and one day I hope I can pick his brain to see how they really tick in there. Fleetwash to me always seemed like the “Home Depot” of the powerwashing world where they have the cheapest prices but there far from the best. They’re extremely profitable from what I heard.
Have fun in Orlando and Cya in Orlando.
John,
I always thought of them as more of a Wal-mart concept, cheap prices, low quality, minimal support and high volume. There is always a market for it and the have done a great job at supporting that segment of the market.
I wouldn’t give them Walmart credit. More like Family Dollar.
Haha!!! I can’t disagree.

Would definitely like to get into the fleet washing at some point but I have never had a call or heard much about it in my area…
It has to be done, so somebody is doing it.

I worked for Fleetwash for about a 18 months. Cheap prices which brought on cheap labor (guys pd. commission) which led to poor quality work. When you are charging $7.50 & $10 per truck on some accounts and a worker is pd. 20-25% commission, he is not going to spend much time on each piece. But they are doing something right to be as big and in the business as long as they are.

Yea I keep saying that but who ever it is doesn’t market it and I’ve never even had someone inquire
They’re not doing general advertising, they’re calling directly on the trucking companies.
