White Stains on Blue Siding

This customer wants a house wash, and his main concern is white stains on his siding. He says that it’s caused by their sprinklers. I’m assuming this means it’s hard water stains? Does anyone know what these stains are from and what I can do to safely remove them? TYIA

I’ve used OneRestore or another acid based chemical. If not heavy you could try vinegar. Do a test spot regardless….much success.

I have one restore and vinegar. I can bring them both and give it a try. I’m probably going to charge quite a bit for this job because I’ve never done anything like it, and I’ve had some bad experiences with dark colored siding. Do you know if this is really caused by the sprinkler? Is it hard water?

Most likely, especially since he had a tripod sprinkler setup there……had that happen a time that did that, charge accordingly. Test a spot out first….try vinegar first, if it’s fresh deposits it should come off with a high acidity vinegar. I use vinegar sometimes on windows that have light spotting. OneRestore will definitely remove it…….just remember to test an area first.

Looks too uniform and all the way to the top to be from the sprinkler to me. It’s that the south facing side? Could be oxidation.

The first thing I do on any home is walk around and check for chalking on the siding. Quick finger wipe on siding in inconspicuous spot will reveal any problems. The oxidation will be on your finger. Be especially suspect of siding that gets a lot of sun.
