Working on my house and white spots have shown up on the soffit. I only used water, no soap of any kind. I tried a sport bristle brush and then a rag. No luck. I then applied a small amount of mild soap. They always come back. I can remove the dust residue but not the spots.
I’m using city water.
Any ideas what it is and how to remove it?
Several ideas, not sure what it is.
If you are saying that no one has ever washed the house, then we are ruling out any Sh/Surfactant. So by process of elimination, is there a window nearby where someone washed the windows with one of those hose attachments and splattered it? What about pesticides? What about fireplaces, tiki torches etc. Is there a vent (bathroom, dryer, forced air vent) nearby?
See the problem with identifying a spot is knowing some context. If you apply some here, with maybe more pics of the surrounding area, people may be able to help you out. Just some white spots could be anything from soap to cement dust or mortar dust.
You used a brush and a rag and the splatter wasn’t removed, but you are saying it lightened it? Did you try a stiffer brush and some good surfactant and immediately rinse?
