Which shooter tip?

Hi all,

I’m a homeowner and own a Simpson 2.5gpm / 3200psi machine. I am not looking to start a business or anything but want the right stuff for my own needs.

I just softwashed my own 2 story house, and used the X-JET M5 DS Twist. It worked OK, but didn’t quite reach the top 1/3 of the house effectively. I got better range out of the 0010 and 0030 tips on my JROD. But, can I do better?

Should I get one of these “shooter” tips I’m reading about?

There’s the Ladder Saver one and I see the J. Racenstein 20 Shooter Tip for 2.5 - 3.5gpm machines. Any others to consider?

Anything else to consider to get more distance out of this little machine?

The shooter tip might get you a little more distance. There are a few different styles out there. Worst case you can buy a 79" lance to add to your gun. The lance alone will get you another 6.5’ reach but if you shoot it from an 8’ stepladder and you just got an additional 14’ reach than from shooting from the ground. I’m not a fan of using ladders but you should only have to move the stepladder a couple of times. The smaller machine is holding you back some but hopefully a shooter tip will work. If you ever have to purchase another pressure washer look into at least a 4 gpm machine. It’s worth the additional cost because it’ll last a lot longer than a homeowner unit.

A home owner with an M5DS and a J rod, there’s something you don’t see everyday lol.

Right? Kinda cool.

But yeah, 2.5gpm just isn’t going to reach even with a shooter. Heck I even have trouble with my 5.5 on windy days. A long lance is the way to go like Brian said.

Well, I only need a little more distance.

The research I did before buying this pointed to it being good enough for my own home use…

The X-JET spec says up to 40ft out of the 2.5-3.5gpm spec, but I’m not seeing that.

I have the Simpson Cleaning MSH3125. It was $400 and getting a 4gpm would’ve been more than double the cost it seemed.

I have an extension pole wand, but it’s obviously not easy to use.
