30 gallon has worked fine for me. I run the shortest section of 3/4 inch Flexzilla hose possible to a Topaz Megaflow valve. I have 2 float valves on there in case one craps out or if I need to dual feed (which rarely happens). I also don’t run water supply through the reel. The way the Flexzilla flattens out on the reel (18 inch) I have 200 feet on there probably room for another 100. Gonna get some 25 footers and see what it can hold as I phase out the 50’s.
What did you end up using as adapters? My k1 is 1/2" outlet and bypass… not finding any adapters rated for over 1200 psi (does it matter for this application?)
I think I found one that will work… It’s 1/2" NPT to 3/8" NPT rated for 2900, so not BSP, but neither is my DN10 apparently and that sealed up fine to NPT so hoping for the best.
Good stuff. Mine is rated for 3500 but could only get 3000 at the whip with the adjuster screw about to fall out of it, according to the gauge.
Following up on this rather then make a new/repetitive post. As I was laying in bed last night I started thinking, maybe overthinking:
Got my k1 unloader, prepping to set it up. Pump’s rated for 5.5 gpm at 2500psi, but it puts out a little more than 6 gpm. According to the nozzle charts, for 2500 psi, if I choose to go with what the pumps rating claims I would use a size 7, but since in reality it’s putting out more gpm should I use a 7.5 to set the pressure?
all i can tell you is whichever you go with, one week make your stream better than the other. if forcing alot of water or of a small hole than the pump puts out, you get a “scattered” stream for to the pressure. maybe approx same distance. I’m crazy and carry a free different tips on my jrod because sometimes i actually want pressure to use to take down a wasps nest or muddobber nest.
You’re right it is probably minimal difference at that point… looking at the nozzle chart a 7.0 orifice at 5.5 gpm would give me 2500 psi, but at 6 gpm it would be 3000 psi… since my engine can’t push that much pressure at that flow rate, can I just adjust my unloader until it either stops increasing pressure or hits the “max” that the pump can output?
I’m not familiar with that unloader.
