What type of stone?

This is a Dr office and the whole building is setup like this pic. I’m pretty sure it is just red clay stains from the sprinklers. My question is what kind of stone is it? It looks like regular cinder blocks but the surface is way smoother than cinder blocks. Any

help is appreciated. Thx guys

It’s cinder block, they just bought the good stuff. That cap is probably cement-based too, doesn’t look like limestone to me.

Thx for the help man. How do you explain this? The circle on the left is scrubbed with aluminum brightener as an alternative to muratic acid and others because it’s all I had on hand at the moment and I’ve heard that it works. The circle on the right is lightly scrubbed with a brush with only water. I was literally using a spray bottle to apply the chemical and the water. And then there is obviously the picture of what it should look like clean. I’ve never done a rust/red clay removal before and there seems to be tons of different opinions on this. But on this specific job it seems like just pressure, not even high pressure, will take it off pretty easily. What kind of opinions do you have on this?

Sadly I know more about building materials than I do about rust removal.

Take it for what it’s worth, if the water-cleaned part is clean enough for your brand then have at it. No reason to buy chems if you don’t have to.

Let the client know you can make an improvement with just water, but using chems will give an even better result (with a higher price tag of course).

@Racer sees a lot of rust at foundations, his opinion would be worth more than mine

Thx. Much appreciated!

I use the aluminum brightener or you can use one of the F9 products. I don’t do scrubbing. Knock the loose stuff off first, let sit for a few min so excess water runs off then apply fairly liberally, rinse off with medium pressure - like 500 psi. May need a couple of applications if pretty bad.

Awesome. Thank you for your input sir. It’s appreciated!

Hello sir. I started this job today. I use a 4 gallon per minute 4K machine. I followed these instructions Word for Word and nothing seems to phase it besides Pressure. I went up to three parts aluminum brightner one part water with hand pump. I even switched to a heavy handed ox mix. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you

Seems like the acid isn’t helping AT ALL.

Don’t know what kind of acid you’re using or what the strength is. Try some one restore or F9. You may need to scrub lightly just to get it worked in some and spread evenly. Try putting on straight in a spot. If you’re putting on, should clean off with medium high pressure easily.

Thx For the reply. I used A 1 gallon pump sprayer with straight aluminum brightner. I’d fill uncomfortable telling you how much pressure I used on a tiny area to see if it worked…lol

OneRestore straight out of the gallon jug, like @Racer said.

Again, thanks guys. I’ve never used one restore before and there are two types at my local store.

One Restore “everything”
and

One Restore “Efflorescence“.

The stain I’m dealing with in the above pics is red clay.

OneRestore everything is what I use.

Thank you sir

oxalic is acid, aluminum brightener has acid, F9 has acid in it. If your using a bottle that says aluminum brightener, that could be any concentration/mix and wouldn’t help you ascertain what mix works at what dwell time. Some acids are “weaker” than others.

Your third picture shows 3 sprinkler heads from an irrigation system right beside the wall. Is there a chance that they spray 360 degrees and aren’t directional? Is that water from a well?

Something worked in picture 1.
