What should I put where

Here’s what I have so far. I need to register the trailer in next day off, but heres a mock setup with the space I have available. 65g buffer up front, followed by 25g chem, 4gpm GX390 belt driven, and two hose reels. In the photo I swapped the pressure washer behind the buffer tank just because of empty weight up front…any suggestions. Thanks!

If you’re going to travel with your buffer empty empty you might have too much weight in the rear especially when your mix tank is full. You might be better off with the washer up front near the tongue. Then again, you could weigh the tongue and figure out how much water you could leave in the buffer to balance the load. You just have to make sure you don’t have more than what the axle or trailer can handle. They say you want around 12% or so on the tongue.

Tank over axle. Machine to front. Wheel fenders

The front is the only place the buffer fits, on the axle it would have to be long way which leaves me without space for the mix tank. As far as load I have no idea what the capacity is. It’s a steel trailer, CAT scale put it at around 900lbs.

Get another trailer

You might melt that tank. Does the trailer have a plywood floor?

You could always put your reels either over fenders, or over mix tank. A bit more work, but frres up room. Even build a rear shelf overhang mount, just like you would over fenders, but in the rear. It all depends on how much water your going to carry as to where the tank needs to go.

Pressure treated wood

Turn your tank horizontal and put over the axle. Move your machine to the front. fabricate a bracket to put the hose reels over the side rail on the curb side. Move chem tank to back. Definitely buy or fabricate some fenders. Thats going to make things veryyy dirty and be shooting dirt and mud in places you didnt know were possible.

If that seems like too much work… i would honestly just look into selling this trailer and buying a more logical trailer that will fit your needs. Doesnt need to be anything fancy, just something thats logical. This trailer really isnt smart the way they have the wheels setup. It looks like its more for a golfcart or atv thats pulling things around a field.

Alternatives to getting different trailer.

  1. get different buffertank
  2. dont use chem tank, use 5gal bucket and SH gallon singles.
  3. different chem tank
  4. get wider axle.

Why dont you put your machine and reels on the rails then you could move tanks over axel. And put down a better floor if you can. You will out grow that set up very quickly

What are you pulling the trailer with?

2019 Tacoma V6

I don’t have those fab skills to build that

2 or 3 can be done

Ever consider a truck build?

Not with this truck tho

There are those 5 gallon, and I think 20gallon foodgrade drums that basically sit up horizontally instead of laying down, check those out. They look like little rounded edged drums.

I’d buy a bigger trailer if possible to fit everything you need. You’ll soon realize you don’t have enough space for everything else like chems, pump sprayers, surface cleaner, poles, brushes, etc. Or you’re gonna have to get really creative with the space you have.
