What is the Mix Ratio of SH for House Wash?

Sodium Hydroxide, Elemanator, water?
In 5 gallons break it down… I went to Largo and bought 2 5 gallons cans of Sodium Hydroxide.

SH is Sodium Hypochlorite. Typical house mix is SH, a surfactant (Elemonator), and water. Mix strength varies on every job. On vinyl jobs, try to run 2gal SH, 3gal water, with 1oz per gallon of the surfactant. Avoid dawn. It’s hard to wash off and will cause leakers (runs) after the job is done because you have to rinse so hard (experienced washers know how to avoid this even with dawn.) if that mix isn’t hot enough, you can always add more SH to the mix. Be careful with it tho and give a good rinse to all surrounding plant life before and after the use of SH. This is a good mix for concrete as well. Hope that helps.

Sodium Hydroxide, I believe, is typically used on wood. I haven’t branched out into wood yet, so I’m no expert. It doesn’t bleach out the wood as bad as SH, if I’m not mistaken. Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

so Elemanotor is the surfactant to use…

Start of with 50% Sodium Hypoclorite, 50% water, and adjust as needed.
I use 1 ounce elemonator per gallon of mix. Make sure bleach is fresh.
Have tried Simple Cherry, Fresh Wash. I prefer the Elemonator.

Tks Bills so leave it on what 5 or 10 min…
So I need to brush it in real good?
I got a guy who had a lady wreck her car in his driveway. Hit a big tree and all the oil and radiator is on his drive way…
Nationwide is paying me to clean it…

Yeah, let the mix sit for ten minutes. Don’t let it dry. Reapply as needed to keep it wet. Then surface clean it off. If it still looks dirty, reapply a light layer mix and rinse off after it sits for a bit. The car spill chems will be a problem, if all you’re using is the mix we talked about. You’re going to need different chemicals. Degreaser for one. Probably use straight degreaser and lit it sit to lift. There’s an awesome chem that I can’t remember the name of that will knock it right out. It’s typically used on gas station parking lots. Maybe someone can chime in.

Get some EBC. Mix it 50-50 in pump up to spray on worst part, let dwell for a little while, 15-20min, then you can downstream 5 oz/gal.over whole thing. Surface clean. Can spray real bad spots agai if needed with pump up and just leave it.

@Fatdaddy, the recipe I gave you is a great house wash mix to start with.
Thought you were talking house wash mixes when you posted. Go with
@Racer and @618Pressure suggestions.

that is really what I wanted a house mix., I just added the drive way i had to deal with…
Race what is EBC where can u get it??
i may just get a can of carb cleaner put on it.

So you say 50/50 sh to water + surfactant, mix and then downstream it? For house washing. I am just trying to find out as much as possible I got a few jobs coming up and I don’t want to look like an idiot. At the moment I have a 16hp vanguard 3500psi 5.6 gpm and a highflow downstream injector. Anything g you can share I would love to know.

Yes, try that mixture. If not working go to 60% SH and 40% water.
I use 1 ounce Elemonator per gallon of house wash mix.

Im sorry to bombard you with questions, but I have a few if its okay. (Pressure washing concrete)

When you say 50/50 SH and water, are you talking 10% SH, 12%, etc.?

Will this work for rust or paint ?

S.Hydroxide solution for paint, S.Hypochlorite solution for organic, & Acids for rust…

That mix was for siding, not rust. Do not put hydroxide on paint

**southernheartllc ** questioned paint & rust removal from concrete

The first thing I would do is a bucket test to get the exact draw rate form your DS injector. My DS injector pulls a 10:1 ratio so I DS straight SH. But it is tough to recommend anything without the data.

so when you say 10:1, could you explain that please. 10 seconds to empty 1 5gal bucket?

I pull 10 gallons of water to 1 gallon of bleach. So if I am using 10% SH straight, then I am spraying 1% on the surface. I tested my set up with a 15 gallon container & a gallon container.

I appreciate you guys being so helpful. I asked a more detailed question on another topic, and kinda got bombarded with rude comment. Guess it’s my fault. If anybody would wanna help answer a couple more in depth questions, I’d truly appreciate it.
