Hey guys, as some of you know I live on the west coast of canada on a beautiful island but with that being said we live in a wet coastal environment and ideal for miss growth. I have a ton of requests on asphalt driveway cleaning like the pictures below but usually avoid them because as we all know pressure washing asphalt is terrible. Real estate agents I work with “just want it done and presentable for pictures and showings”. So my question to you guys is what would you do for these issues. I had in mind applying a roof treatment style application then getting a street sweeper in or sweeping it away after it has dried!?!?! Thoughts for the pros on here?
That’s a great opportunity, no reason to pass. Roof mix the full area(let sit until dead) then low pressure (deck pressure) fan the moss off. You will not have any issues with asphalt at that pressure. Good luck

That’s kinda what I had in mind too. Maybe give a quick scrape with a shovel to remove the bulk of it too. I was worried about leaving marks but at around 1000 psi and 8GPM your plan might work! I’ll keep you posted.
Would love to hear what works best! I’m in Oregon and moss is plentiful here as well. I’ve typically just shoveled the bulk of it first and followed with low pressure. Would love to know if there is other preferred methods.
I quoted this already and had in mind treating the drive way first with roof mix then doing the roof treatment and washing the house then coming back and sanding with low pressure. See how it goes if I get the go ahead.
been passing on these for years but gonna try everything this year.
It’s gonna come down to educating the client, signed waiver, and not getting to OCD. Try to remove 100% of the moss and its gonna be too much pressure and time.
For a few years now we have been selling preventative maintenance. Showed pictures of what happens if you don’t be pre-emptive.
5 people who right now what the moss gone. That is the issue, everyone waits till the moss is so bad. Some want miracles others just don’t want to slip and fall.
I’ve had 2 guys over the years who took on asphalt driveways as upsells. After doing a few each they said “no way we should do that again, too much damage”.
I have been turning them down and then the landscaper gets the jobs. A few buddies out here do them they admit it’s not the best thing but the client wants it done.
As much as possible we are pulling away from windows and pushing outside services, primarily pressure washing, so I just want to come up with a solution which works best for all parties
