Water cannon 5.5gpm gx390

Anyone have any history with water cannon? It appears to be the same unit, pump, and stats as those offered by pressure tek and pws. I figure there has to be something different. Its about $100 cheaper and no shipping costs. None make mention of unloaders and one site made mention of a high flow injector.
Is the build quality the same? I mean they have the same engine and pump all offer a hose and gun. And they are all pull start systems. I plan on putting an e start In it in the future.

I bought a Comet pump and a bunch of accessories from them a couple years ago. No issues.

I bought my current pump from them. They’re good. Better pricing than most others.

Just an FYI, it’s really hard to find an aftermarket starter for the new gx390’s. All of the ones sold on amazon and ebay are built for the pre-2011 version. They changed the position of the coil and it will throw your engine badly out of time. (Oh, and they also won’t fit without boring out the knockout larger.)

Ask me how I know…

Any rate, I wish I had paid the extra $400 or whatever for the electric start from the factory. The 390’s are rough on pull cords

I purchased a pressure washer a couple years ago and it has worked great! They are really helpful if you have questions as well.

How do you guys have yours plumbed? I was going to come off of the buffer with 1" supply but 1" seems to be right on the cusp of sufficient for 5.5 from what I have read. Should i just bump up to 1.5" supply?

1” is more than sufficient if you plumb it correctly. I get 7+ gpm of gravity flow to my pump with my tank only half full.

Not sure, but I think @Innocentbystander might even plumb his 8gpm machines with 1” crushproof line.

Plumb in a 2” bulkhead for your dump valve, though. No need to wait around emptying your tank at 7gpm.

I have 2" running off the bulkhead to a Y that reduces to 1". I get 9+ gpm out of each 1" hose

Is it safe to assume you guys have a filter in place between your buffer and pump and still pulling this volume?

My 8 gal is water cannon. Staff were jerks after purchase. For the extra $$ you spend at pressure tek, you may get decent treatment from them going forward. I didnt like dealing on the phone with them, but I order from there on certain items. Most are rebranded pressure pros I think. Was just at the new Power Wash Store in Nashville (super nice people) and their Water Dragons have Udor pumps. 8 gal $3550. Wish id have known. 1" feed is fine. I run a banjo filter between buffer and pump. If your back is finicky like mine, get the e start. 390 is a beast.

Do not disregard this post. Super important info here.

I certainly wasnt going to. Just bummed cuz that eats up the cost of hoses and fittings. Budget is pretty skinny.

Gotcha. I just saw the direction changed, but was really hoping you saw this to avoid MANY future disappointments. Lol

There is quite a bit I don’t know but I do pretty much know who here has the good advice and knows what’s up. I should have probably should have acknowledge the comment but I cussed and moved on haha

No worries. A lot of comments go unnoticed/unacknowledged, but this was one I felt was important enough to highlight even if you did see it the first time.
