What are you guys doing about staining/spotting from weep holes in vinyl siding? Did a job today, rinsed carefully, and everything looked great when I left. Came back to meet with customer and get a check and there were several places where dripping & spotting occurred from weep holes. Do you go back and clean them or is that just expected?
Pics are always helpful. The result you described would not be expected. You may not have rinsed adequately or sprayed your mix into the overlaps and pushed it behind the siding. Im thinking the latter
I don’t soft wash anything, I use my PW and try to work with the siding by going with the overlap. Sometimes you can’t help it as you are avoiding an issue like a japanese maple or a fish pond.
I don’t care how well you rinse sometimes, you could be there for days if the inside of the siding is filled with dirt and their siding wasn’t properly installed. Especially if they have bats behind it. It is like a bug and crap train coming out of there. I tell the homeowners that I have really tried to mist the last bits off that it will be gone in a rain or two. I remember removing siding in the 80’s, we used to peel it off and smash the bats with a hammer. Now I would probably be in jail for 40 years for killing the bats.
I live in a wooded area, i love seeing the bats come fly overhead at dusk and thinking about how i read they eat thousands of mosquitoes in one night, makes me feel so satisfied.
I went through this mess for a while. Once the main rinse is done and the weep holes have mostly stopped draining, stand back from the wall and ‘mist’ the siding so only water rains at a downward angle.
Thanks, that’s a good idea.
I generally like animals, until they enter my home or garden. Then I like them dead. I let the dead animals lie in the field, the crows and vultures will pick them clean to the fur and bones in a day or two.
Today i did the house next door to the one i did where i had the weep hole problem. Followed your advise and no problems. Thanks
