I have been doing a lot of reading and came to the realization that I should probably work for somebody first to see if I actually want to do this for a living. To put it in a nutshell, I am really interested in doing this long term.
What I noticed is that a lot of you guys are in the south and east coast. I have no idea how popular exterior cleaning is in my area (SF Bay Area). I would say we get a moderate amount of rain in the fall and winter.
Just go to Google maps in your area and search pressure washing / cleaning
At least you’ll see who’s on Google
If you going to work for someone you should work for someone far away, that way you can be honest about your intentions and he won’t see you as competition, OR work for the largest commercial company in your area, he won’t see you as competition
I run a business in west Michigan in the summer and socal in the winter. Since I live in Palm Springs, there is scant demand at best for pressure washing (zero for soft washing) because in the desert it’s so hot and dry there is no algae/lichen/moss. Everyone has stucco that I rinse off occasionally. I mainly do window washing in California. If you live in a place that is moisture rich and has trees giving constant shade on houses, there will be a demand. I’ve never been to the Bay Area but it sounds like it’d be viable there from my limited knowledge.
