So I’m planning on pulling the trigger on February 1st and buying a Bandit roof cleaning system. I’ve been running my window cleaning business out of my personal truck for the last year and my wife has been telling me I should buy a vehicle strictly for work to keep the miles off my truck. Either way I’m going to have to buy something, be it a new to me vehicle or a ladder rack for my truck (can’t fit everything in the bed).
So I’m wanting to buy a work truck with a ladder rack, put my sectional ladders on top, the bandit and my DI tanks in the bed. My wife wants me to buy a van that way everything is locked up and out of the rain. The 3rd option (not my favorite) is a enclosed trailer for everything. I just wanted to get everyones opinions and see if anyone has put a bandit and tanks in a van?
not a good idea to have the SH in an enclosed van since it will def eat up the metal and cause everything to rust quickly…really quickly. having it in the back of a truck will cause the same but not as fast in an open bed…but splash over will happen and leaks and will cause rust. having in trailer or designated sacrificial work truck is better option. or hose out bed of truck every day and spray in liner and keep chemicals from spilling…I keep my window gear in a work van and roof gear in expendable work truck…hope this helps
That does help. What if I were to put a spray in liner in the back of the van. the tank should be sealed so it shouldn’t be spilling as I drive. But it’s not realistic to say spills while filling wont happen. Also if we did a van it would be a sacrificial vehicle. That SH could potentially cause inhalation problems as well being in an enclosed van like that, if spilled. If I did spray a liner in the back of the van I could in theory park on an incline and occasionally hose the back of the van out. Sorry if this seems like a brain dump, it is. I’m taking everything you say to heart and really appreciate the feed back. I’m just trying to figure out all the questions and kinks I have. I really just want one vehicle to put everything in, that way I’m not forgetting gear in the wrong truck. Thanks in advance for any more thoughts on this.
I totally understand with only wanting one vehicle. There is a huge problem with putting a roof setup in a van…vapors! Inhalation is bad and not just from the spilling but from the fact that you’re carrying so much caustic liquid. Very very bad to inhale all the time and since you’re carrying it as concentrate. You need a airtight divider in the van. Also spilling isn’t the main problem but also the sh causes vapor and will cause rust even if it doesnt spill…even if it doesnt touch any metal it will cause the metal to rust.
truck bed or trailer is the way to go…sorry…I wish I could put a roof setup in my sprinter van and carry everything but I just wont do that to the van or myself…also, liners are good and rinsing it off it good…make a habit of it…
One thing you could do is have the window setup in the truck and roof setup in a trailer…and I always try to upsell the windows along with roofs…rarely have people turn down
The carpet guys do it. I’m not pressure washing though. not yet at least. What trailers are you guys going with? I was thinking if I went that route something like a 5x10 enclosed trailer. My issue though is my wife wants me to stop putting miles on my truck and beating it up. So even then, per her, I’d need a new tow vehicle as well.
maybe a combo of an e250 or some other van with some beef, and just a small 5x8 single axle trailer specifically for roofs would be a good combo. you won’t be doing roofs every day (at least for awhile), and a van is way better to work out of for window cleaning. tow the trailer with the van only when you need it.
you could have a nice used van, new trailer and complete roof rig for less than $10k
I can see a real issue having the SH inside any vehicle with you and then having a wreck. You might survive the crash but have serious issues after having several gallons of SH wash over you. No thanks. Keep in the back of a truck or behind you in a trailer.
This is my exact set up! Roof/chemical pump 5x8 trailer with a 100 gallon tank and fat boy for roofs or stucco house washes and the e250 for my (cold 8 GPM) pressure washing gear. Works great and I only carry one or two 5 gallon jugs of SH at a time. Just make sure you rinse everything out really well after each job to keep the SH smell as little as possible. Although it would be nice to have an air tight cabin space but it’s not in the cards for right now.
hey guys I’m new here and just trying to get my first post in. Having trouble with the website. Anyway, I plan on using my 8’ bed with a cap to hold all of my equipment. This worked just fine for me last year but all I had was a pressure washer (5.5 gal pressure pro) and random gear/chems. This year I am planning on putting a roof cleaning setup in the bed of the truck also. I will Post pictures when It is complete.
Btw thanks to everyone for all of the great info. I have been researching here for over a year. Someone here recommended the machine I use now and I cant thank you guys enough.
