Using hose reel

General Pump DHRA50300DHRA50300 300′ Industrial Hose Reel with “A” Frame. What quick connections will I need for a 3/8 hose. Where I connect it in I used a 3/8 male quick connect and I have to bend the hose a ton to start spooling it on is there and 45 degree quick connects that put less stress on the ends of the pressure washer hose?

If you have 1/2 fittings on the reel get the adapters for 1/2 to 3/8 threads. Thread your quick connect on.

They sell fittings called street 45. Lori at pressure washer products can send you the pressure rated ones. Don’t get the ones that are like 300 psi rated.

Do they need to be a certain length? once you get a street 45 you throw the male quick connect onto it and your good ?

Hose end, street 45, male quick connect, female quick connect, hose end. In that order.

You can put in your connections which will make the hose stick out more or just screw hose into street 45. May need an adaptor but ask pwp.

The street 45 I got just made that kink worse :man_shrugging:

I looks like it would be fine without the 45 on there

Yeah the first is without thought there was something else out there like an adapter to make it more stream line with the spool. But guess not

I bet if you took the quick connects off it would be better. Plumb the hose right into the reel

Do you need the quick connects for any particular reason? It would be better to plumb in the hose directly to the reel. Probably don’t need the 45.

There was a time when i had QCs on my reel for when i had to move the trailer i didn’t have to wind all the hose back up. Actually took advantage of that a few times.

Quick connects are a good idea in theory but you don’t really need them at the reel.

I also used to use continuous 250 feet hose. It it was always such a pain when they blew I just started buying 100 and 50 foot sections. I now run double wire for the first 100 feet then single wire for the rest. It’s a huge time saver when a hose goes bad. The double wire last much longer.

Glad I decided to wait on commenting. Glad you got it fixed up

First, I’ve never seen a reel with that much of angle coming off of it. Most reels just have like a 90 sticking up. But your street 45 is backwards(upside down) in 1st pic. It’s made to make your hose closer to reel. What’s it look like w/o the street 45 and your plugin on there. But doesn’t look bad like it is now. I’ve run both ways, don’t really have a big preference, though most the time have the connections on there. I don’t run continuous hose either, so easier for me to swap out if I need to.

I like to run a 1-2ft whip line off the hose connection. If your worried about stress on the hose, much cheaper to replace the whip.

Also think that’s why you have so much bend, remove the quick connects and thread the whip line straight in to the reel.

Reel, reducer, whip line, quick connect, then hose

You can even go as far as putting a piece of a
Suction hose over the whip line, to ease the bend if needed

I also am just setting some new reels up and haven’t decided if I should run through reel or not. 200ft. They are aluminum with with stainless internals.

Is it ok to only take 50 feet off and still run through the reel?

Also, just realized this is a year old!
