I personally like a ball valve for what you described. It is definitely a replacement item, but the time savings in switching attachments is money.
Think how quick you would be without the ball valve. I would quit today if I had to lug around a ball valve or have to change out guns for different wands, surface cleaner.
It’s hard to imagine being any faster than I am now. Lol. And operating a valve to go from short gun to surface cleaner doesn’t seem like a huge undertaking. It seems like a convenience to not have to shut down my machine to change attachments. But, I can see the convenience of operating everything off of one gun. However, you still have to change your various attachments with a qc. So you still have to pickup/drop different attachments, seems like the time savings difference between the two setups would be negligible.
Do you have a Schertzbox ?
Admittedly I started with the jrod shutting off the injector with the nozzles but soon realized it was too much for rinsing with plain water. I had my GF standing at the trailer with a walkie-talkie, shutting off the soap valve😆
I still use the 1000psi fan a lot on various areas, like edging concrete, brick walls and decks, and (gasp) also use the 0 degree HP for lichens on metal gutters. I don’t care what you have in your neck of the woods, you can kill them dead here but they still take pressure to get off.
I do not. Would gladly demo one to see what all the hoopla is about though.
I’m sure it is great, and I believe it has value as much as people comment on it. My setup is fairly professional, as far as equipment/trailer/buffer tank, but my soap/chem side of operations is pretty basic. And it works for me.
Remote downstream is a game changer to me. Absolutely love it, I made mine.
I had trouble edging the little 12” pavers that someone made a walkway with on the side of their house. I would blast mud and all the pea gravel out from in between when I got close to the edge.
On some gutters, no matter how much soap and sh you throw at it, the buildup just won’t fall off. My soap nozzle definitely didn’t have the power to knock it off. So my high rinse nozzle does the trick due to the slightly higher pressure.
