If you have a direct drive now just ditch your pump and bolt on a HP5535 or Udor 5.5gpm gear drive pump…4 bolts…and you’re in business. Costs about $850 for pump, gear box, and unloader. Gear drive runs at the same speed at belt driven pumps so much cooler.

I didn’t even think about that option. That’s true, if you have a GX390 already, then you can probably do that for essentially the same price. My local pressure washer supplier was able to swap pumps for ~$100, so if you’re not mechanically inclined, that’s an option as well. Direct to gear drive is a pretty easy conversion though.
