Upstream Fleet Washing?

Hey guys,
I have a large fleet of about 90 trucks that I can wash every two weeks and about 500 trailers I can wash monthly. We have been brushing everything for over a year and I’m looking for a better way. I have an Alkota 5.5gpm hot water skid and a 4gpm cold machine on my trailer. I would like to start upstreaming my soap but have a few questions. If I install an upstream injector how do I keep it from pumping soap into my tank when in bypass? Also, is it safe to use heat in the winter on the windshields?
Right now I have a four man crew (1 soaping, 2 brushing & 1 rinsing) we can do about 7 tractors/hr and 10 trailer/hr. I want to start pursuing other accounts and I’m looking for a more efficient way to wash. Thank so much for your help!

Hello MidGa,

Add a check valve to your soap injector line to keep the back pressure from filling our soap bucket.

Thanks Tim,
Should I be concerned with hot water on the windshields in cold weather?

My experience is that the chemical make up of soap starts loosing its effectiveness if heated above 120F I’ve herd of window gaskets popping at 160F - 200F.

The heat AIDS in the effectiveness of the soap and is appreciated for its rinse ability and grease emulsion unless your degreasing a engine or nasty aluminum keep your temp rise at a safe level and you should be fine.
