Underside of vinyl siding

Good afternoon,

I’ve searched but was unable to find the answer to this question.

I bought a pressure washer to clean my primary residence as well as my rental house. I was testing it out on my primary and used a mixture of 12.5% SH, water and elemonator. The ratio was 40/60 (SH:water) and 4 ounces of elemonator.

I’m having trouble getting the underside of the vinyl siding clean without having to use pressure on it. Should I make my mixture stronger? Anything else I’m missing?

Thanks!

the underside of the vinyl siding ? Can you explain ?

The bottom of it… You should be able to see it in this picture.

when I see something like this, I always go back ( after 10 minutes) of dwell time and blast off the underside with my long range applicator tip or my green tip. My green tip will not draw bleach, so I don’t have to worry about drawing bleach. My long range applicator does draw bleach.,.So if i’m knocking that garbage off --I’m somewhat wasting bleach,. If it’s real bad, i’ll just go back to the machine and yank the injector out …so as to not waste bleach… You must take it off in layers. bleach/blast/bleach/blast. You must give about 5-10 minutes though for your fresh coat of bleach to eat into it. Letting it dwell for 20-30 minutes just won’t do the trick. * and the golden rule is --you don’t want to blast too much water underneath the siding. Those panels usually are in 2’s or 3’s. So every 2nd or 3rd one has a joint where water can get underneath. Sometimes it’s just inevitable. The other option is to hit the vinyl with straight 12.5 % through your injector. Can’t leave it on too long if you do it this method. The bleach will zap that stuff in a matter of minutes.

Usually a second treatment with the housewash mix should do the trick. It may need a tiny bit more pressure to sufficiently agitate heavier growth. But I wouldn’t advise blasting any vinyl with the ‘green tip’.

It should also be safe to bump up your concentration of SH for trouble areas. You could try going to a 60/40 mix of SH/water and see if there’s an improvement.
