Two-stepping windows

Yeah, that’s the plan. Power wash with whatever chemicals I can safely throw at it; no scrubbing. I figured GG might be a little mild for a touch-less cleaning. I could possibly see it being useful as a sort of rinse-aid

So, you want to clean the glass with an acid of some sort?

I’m confused. I thought you had access to a lift .

I have access to a lift, but not the glass due to the bars in the way

:+1:, Thought you’d be able to get a little squeegee in there or something. Shows ya what I know about WC. :joy:

Yeap im just reading up. I have no info to help will this one.

I am NOT a window cleaner but I do remember reading that One Restore can be good on glass. I have used it on several jobs to include the brick on my own house and it left the windows looking good too (they weren’t quite that bad  ). They have excellent tech support too. Tell me more about this. Does this involve a hydrofluoric acid?

Is there a way to safely two step in this situation that doesn’t involve super dangerous chems? Feel free to pm me if you don’t want to give away trade secrets.

This is an idea of my plan so far:

  • Go up in the lift with a two step gun and two jerry cans of my cleaning solutions.
  • Plan on treating three or four windows at a time, maybe more, depending on how comfortable I am in the lift, and how hot a day it is.
  • Run my two DI tanks before the buffer, so I’ll be using pure water for the entire cleaning process

My main quandary at this point is, which two cleaning solutions to use…

We washed a psych facility once, about 5 buildings. This was the place people would go that couldn’t go to jail.

Except there was barely any security and they roamed free, it was the weirdest 3 days Power Washing ever. Sometimes we had to take turns so the other person could pull security.

We had a tentative deal to do dozens of other properties for this company throughout the state, but after that experience I told them NO

You’ve dealt with HCS 400 before @Patriotspwashing , would it be safe to let dwell on that brick in the pics above ?

Thankfully, this is one of the highest rated psych facilities in the country, and they take patient care (and security) very seriously.

The underwriter at Liberty Mutual refused to cover me for the lift work, though. Their concern was the liability if a patient got loose and helped themselves to the lift… So I’ll be getting the additional coverage through a different carrier.

Are you washing the whole building @Infinity , or just the windows?

Just the windows.

@Hotshot, if it’s easier for you, feel free to call me. 8023809036

Doesn’t that kind of change things ? Meaning, what ever chem you use ,you have to worry about streak cleaning the brick all the way to the ground. I mean how long ago has the outer exterior ,brick, been cleaned? From the looks of the windows, That tells me, a heck of a long time.
I’m just worried about you even using watered down junk like purple power, mean green,Awesome, etc. I can take the HCS 400 and dilute it down 85 % and still use it as a great bug remover and 10 times stronger than any box store degreasers,so I don’t want to see you get yourself into trouble by DS anything I’ve offered, . I was under the impression that you had to wash the whole thing.

That’s a valid point.

If I had one hose spraying water on the bricks below, do you think that would be enough to keep those cleaners from streaking down the brick?

I’m gonna give my contact a call and see when, if ever, the brick has been washed, and what he thinks about the streaking issue. (Edit: he says definitely more than 7 years :smirk:)

If it comes down to it, I may have to bid washing the whole building, all or nothing :man_shrugging:

But I know that option will take up a whole lot more chemical…

You may have to sir. My chems would no doubt clean everything you have is those pics like a new penny. But that also includes the brick …
Call this dude @Hydrochem. He’s super cool, smart and knows the house washing, commercial side of things as well as the trucking industry.

Awesome, thanks! Just left him a message.

Without looking at it in person I wouldn’t wanna guarantee that. Would you guarantee that your usual HW mix would not streak the brick or that gutter box, ledge thing below the upper windows ?

You can 2 step with the tools you already have, except you’ll need a 3 way poly valve from pressuretek and some more 1/4" poly line to create 2 DS lines coming off you existing DS injector. Like $25 for both

I’m having a rough week, my mom is in the hospital so I’m slow on emails. I could use the distraction though…what’s the actual question? I skipped way down when I read high alkaline water and was like WHAT?

Anyway, can someone sum up what the questions are?

tl;dr: what’s the best way to do a touch-less cleaning of extremely neglected windows?

I now have a plan of attack, though. I just put in an order with hydrochem, for their surfactant Power-Solv, and their acid based cleaner M-37.

I’ll do an application of SH with power-solv, rinse well, and then do an application of the m-37. I’ll have a helper keeping the surrounding brick nice and wet to prevent streaking.

I’ll most likely use an x-jet with a 3-way poly valve to apply the chems from the lift.
