Two-Step Gun In Action

Does anyone know what size orifices are in the xjets? That might help get me on the right track…

@dperez, you seem like a guy that might know such a thing…

I have never messed with a xjet but I would guess they are 40 45 and 50 sized orifices.

You’re hole size would be .156" to .172"

5/32" to 11/64" with wire gauge size #20 being right in the middle

Thanks, Dezmar.

I think you’re probably thinking of the the spray tip orifices, not the pressure orifice inside the xjet body. I should’ve been more specific.

I pulled out my drillbit set and used them as a size gauge on my 4-6 gpm xjet. The orifice on mine is just a hair under 3/32”, or .094”. That lines up with a #13 orifice nozzle @ .091”.

Looking at a spec sheet for the xjets, the 4-6 gpm model is labeled XJET-13K. So it appears that they use the actual orifice size in labeling them. Pretty handy!

So all that said, I think I should be more than safe drilling out my DIY 2-step injector to 3/32”.

I got one I could loan you in a week or 2.
It puts out soaps @around 800 psi ish rinse around 1500 psish. Just got to screw on your own lance and run 1/4" lines @Infinity. Has 3 different nozzles that will work for a 5.5/6 gpm. The injector is a 1.8

Yeah I didn’t feel good about knowing what’s going on lol

It’s coming together…

I had to use a non-standard injector that came from who knows where. The gp hidraws do not have 1/8 npt on the soap inlet. But this one did.

Unfortunately, I already drilled the fixed orifice out of this one (pretty sure to 1/8”). That’s a #25 orifice, putting me right around 200psi at the injector. Still enough to pull chem, I hope. Can’t wait to try it out tomorrow.

I tapped the ends of the hose barbs to be able to use the screw in metering tips from the Dultmeier stainless/kynar injector. For anyone interested, it’s an 8-32 thread.

I was PM’d for a parts list.

Unfortunately, I can’t give exact model numbers and such, since I opted for some low pressure fittings for the sake of expediency and convenience, and I know for a fact that high pressure tips will never go in this gun. But that’s not a ‘best practice’ by any stretch.

Also, I have this mystery injector that happened to have 1/8” threads. It might be a JE Adams 10% fixed injector? I think it would be much more preferable to find the correct adapter for the soap inlets on the standard injectors.

For my gun, I used:

•(2) 1/4” fpt x 3/8” fpt adapter couplers
•10” x 1/4” stainless nipple
•1/4” fpt x female pressure coupler (stainless)
•1/4” fpt 3-way PVC ball valve (MFR #: 6900190)
•(2) 1/4” mpt x 1/4” barb elbows (Banjo MFR #: HB025-90)
•1/4” mpt x 1/8” mpt adapter nipple (substitute this part for whatever thread is on the injector of your choosing

An 8-32 thread tap was used on the hose barb ends to allow the use of screw in metering tips:

Dultmeier seems to have the best prices on pressure-rated fittings. You may have to go to Zoro for the PVC 3-way and a couple other items, though.

So, I was afraid this was going to be an issue.

First test was an utter failure. Water spraying out of the draw tube. Apparently, 1/8” is just too big an orifice (at least for the design of this particular injector).

For those curious to know, I used this injector previously as a back-pressure orifice on the bypass side of my k5 injector. That’s why it was drilled out to 1/8”.

What are you actually trying to achieve here @Infinity ?

Basically, a two step xjet, with somewhat lower pressure, if possible. I don’t need the high draw ratio of an xjet for my application.

I need to find a way to adapt to the inlet of a standard injector, though.

I have a couple spare orifices, so I can experiment a bit with different size openings. I want to draw chem at the lowest possible pressure, using my housewash tips.

Edit: I guess I could accomplish all of this with my actual xjet, since I know it has standard threads on the inlet.

What I really want is something where everything is screwed together and fixed in place, so I don’t have to use both hands to switch from soap 1, to rinse, to soap 2, back to rinse.

So an actual 2 step gun is to much psi then @Infinity .
I’m understanding now man.
Dont wanna go blasting through windows and caulking etc, etc.

Why soap, rinse, soap rinse?
We soap, soap, rinse.

I figured the bleach + acid thing was a bad idea…

You rubber scrubbers don’t use bleach in your caustic soap mix, huh?

Ha !! No sir we do not.

@Hotshot

Can i use this for two stepping?

Ok I’m still confused on what you are planning on using it on and also how are you going to carry 2 bucks and the gun at the same time. Also what are you going to use it on.

Are you referring to me?

I’m using it on the job discussed here:

Buckets go up in the lift with me.

Ok I see

Got it adapted to a regular injector.

Made a bushing by hacking the end off of the original hose barb, and tapping an 1/8” npt thread inside of it.
