Trying to get business

My husband has two Honda Pressur Washer machines with the burners and since he has been laid off of his 9 to 5 job he have been having a terrible time finding work with these machines. Can anyone give us some ideas of getting some advertising out here without spending a fortune. He does a great job power washing but the work is just not in our neighborhood! How do we get the word out?

Word of mouth is my best marketing tool…and organic facebook posts from happy customers… I usually book at least one job off of every post that a customer shares on FB.

Nextdoor app has been great for me this year. Find a lawn care/landscaper who doesn’t wash, to refer work back n forth with. Had about 30 houses this March that almost all came from Nextdoor referrals. Ask for reviews from your customers as well. Several times.

Good info there too. I’ve gotten work in a few hoa’s by cold calling them. Most neighborhoods around me (about 30 within a couple miles) are managed by a bigger property management company, and they won’t give your info out. You can, however, get on their list on vendors for bidding on all the common areas, etc., but usually at some cost to you. One of the bigger management companies that manages most neighborhoods around me, cost $200 to be verified as a vendor. Sounds like a lot, but they manage over 900 neighborhoods, and only have 4 pressure washing vendors. They also won’t let a random wash company do any work for them without paying the verification fee anyways.

It sounds like a ponzi scheme or amway. Just pay me $200 for verification and we will give you a chance to bid on work but only after the 4 guys in front of you get a chance to bid on it.

And hey while you are it, invite other pressure washers to pay the “verification fee” and you will get some money if they do any work.

Nextdoor referrals works fairly well, although most seem to be ‘tire kickers’.

As you have a hot water machine, how about gas stations, family owned restaurants etc. Guy I worked with years ago got a ton of work doing fast food driveways where everyone would throw their gum out the window.

Is this real? If so you probably cant find work becuase you do not have a business, website, insurance, and a ton of other stuff that us pros have. This is not a side gig for most. If this is what you want to do then research, form a business entity and then advertise.

Sheez…

Paying compliance depot, verify, and a few others cost me about $2k a year and generates about $700k. Pay to play.

Woooo boy sign me up! I have a $1,200 monthly budget for advertising but I’d rather spend it where you are for that return!

It’s not really advertising. Can’t bid on a property unless you pay $100 to be approved by their second party compliance vendor. Doesn’t mean you will get the bid. Most contractors won’t pay the money and can’t bid. Once you’re in and get the bid, the vendor approval is good for all their properties.

How do I go about finding those around me?

Most any commercial property/apartment complex has a variation of these requirements. No different than the insurance you needed for your Walmart contract probably. I’m sure there were a lot of contractors that didn’t have the insurance requirements to bid on it
