True Value Nuts & Bolts STORE CLOSING

If you have True Value Nuts & Bolts stores in your area I’d keep an eye out. I went to one here yesterday to get caulk for a new toilet install and found the shelves for many items weren’t stocked.

Anyway I left without asking any questions and drove past a different location on the way to an estimate… STORE CLOSING! And I missed it!

Kinda. All the individual hardware in boxes has been sold, but no one was patient enough to count out what was in the bins or smart enough to ask if they’d take a flat price for what was left.

Well I asked because I didn’t want to count either and I’m headed home with hundreds of dollars in grade 5 and grade 8 3/8” and 5/16” hardware, self tapping bolts, and lag screws of various flavors for $44. Think years worth.

Keep an eye out if you’ve got the stores near you. I’d bet anyday the one 5 minutes from my house is going under and I’m gonna scoop up the Milwaukee stuff, clamps, and more hardware.

Damm they are all out by you. We only have True Value by me none of this nuts and bolts nonsense haha.

Same, I’ve never heard of the “nuts and bolts” version of the store on this side of the river either.

We had a store called Tuckers. Damn near any nut or bolt, you could walk in and hand it to them. They would have it. All the odd stuff. You didnt have to dig because the women there knew it all and could find it for you. Then they closed. Sears hardware was next best and not even close. You had to hunt and it was iffy. Now that is closed. Only thing left is Lowes and HD. Not even close to the same experience.

We have a place downtown that’s privately owned. You walk in and there’s a desk. You tell them what you need or trying to do and they’ll bring you 4 or 5 options. Only problem is they’re almost always twice the cost of most big box stores unless you’re ordering mega amounts of it. If you need to know every last thing about a bolt and why it’s best for what you’re trying to accomplish or just something weird it’s there and worth the cost to just get it in 5 minutes and go.

I always see their delivery truck at the big job sites.

Tuckers was expensive and I tried to buy as much as I could from them to keep them open.

You and @Thenewbie are missing out. I thought they all changed their name to Nuts & Bolts by True Value, but apparently not.

Sorry fellas. Lol

I don’t know how fastenal stays in business… they’ll sell you a $.19 bolt for $1.19.

Industrial sales. There are a few around here but they arent really store fronts. They will seel you stuff cor crazy money. They are sales offices for industrial sales

Here’s my plug for habitat for humanity restore if you’ve got one near. I popped in between jobs and found bulk weld in nuts, weld in studs, grade 5 bolts, and a mountain of air filters. Bought 10lbs of fasteners for about what 1 Lb of weld in studs and weld in nuts usually costs.

If you’ve got one near they’re worth the time to pop in.
