What’s the hose construction? Is it a single braided rubber hose, double braided vinyl, ag hose etc. I would say you need the most flexible wall you can find (low working pressure). If it’s too stiff you get no flex so it can balloon a bit when it gets the surge. We’re talking about your bypass hose back to your tank off your unloader right? I ask because you mentioned 5/8" and 3/8" is plenty big.
Yes it’s my bypass hose back to my tank.
I believe it’s 5/8"
could be 3/8"
I feel like an idiot because I don’t know off the top of my head. As soon as I let off the gun it burst and sprayed all over the place and I got soaking wet. Had plenty of hose so I cut it and put it on the barb of the unloader and put my hose clamp back on. Started the machine again and once I let off the gun it blew again. I have my trailer in my garage and the garage is sitting anywhere between 40* to 50* degrees so nothing is freezing in my garage.
My big account, 36 pieces that brings me in over 1K each time I go out, called me today to get me to clean the fleet because they were dirty. Told them I’d be out tonight or tomorrow night. Checked the weather and it was more beneficial to go out tonight, 25* tonight compared to 10* tomorrow night.
Yup I bet you should just step up to 5/8" or run 3/8" rubber hose. You’re just seeing too much back pressure right there at that fitting. Good luck
Is there another hose I could use that has more flex? Or am I stuck with that same hose and trying to figure out how to keep it from bursting? Like I said, I’m almost positive that it’s 5/8". Is that the common size coming off the unloader?
Can you upload a pic of it in your also showing where it is connected in the same pic?
for some reason I cannot post a picture from my phone anymore on this site. Let’s see if I can post it on my facebook page and then link it here. Gimme a second
First time it blew was closer to the unloader, less than an inch away. The second time it blew about 1.5-2" away
Excuse me homie you’re running 1/4" bypass hose yowza
Can’t see that it’s bushed down from 3/8" but it definitely looks the same size as your fuel hose.
100% not 1/4"
probably 3/8", gotta go out there and measure it. I’m guessing 3/8" and not 5/8" as I sit here drinking my bourbon. Pretty positive it’s 3/8" and not 5/8"
I.d. though I see markings on it see if it says the size on it
?
I’m very novice to this stuff. Give me a technical manual and I’m good to go. Figure it out by myself and I’m much slower to figure it out. But I am 100% positive it’s not 1/4"
Or put a tape on it. That particular hose would have 1/4" wall so see if it’s 1/2" outside diameter
checked my receipts and it is 100% 3/8"
How can I go to 5/8" or even 1/2" if only 3/8" fits on that barb on the unloader?
They do make a 3/8" od pvc hose that’s 1/4" id. To size up you’d just trade out the brass barb elbow
just put a tape measure to it. 1/2" outer with 3/8" inner
5/8" id hose and more flex in a 3/8" final answer lol
This is something I wanted to ask you that I thought of when I was driving home fuming.
If I remember correctly, I thought you said you had a “weep” on your unloader right? If that is the case, what do I need to get? I don’t care if the water returns to the tank, I’m not bypassing that much water where I need to return it to my tank. I just want something to keep the pump from overheating. If I can find something where it just drips when I’m off the gun I’d be happy
I hope I can find that locally so I can get this fleet cleaned! Gonna go check Tractor Supply tomorrow. If not then I’ll get online and buy some hose
