Going to try Fleet Prep now. Just ordered 2 kits to go with my Dynaclean. Also will try the HCS-400 on the Ferrellgas trucks since they absolutely suck to wash! Chad said to dilute the HCS-400 50/50 and then downstream it at 15:1. I should be able to throw a proportioner in my line and draw at 30:1 instead right?
Any special instructions or precautions? I’ll be using gloves/goggles/mask while mixing this and when I transfer from my 55 gallon drum to my 20 gallon drum on the trailer. Any other things I should be worried / aware of? Don’t let it dry on the galss. Should I worry about using it with the decals on my Hy-Vee fleet?
Mixed up my Fleet Prep today. Was pretty nervous about mixing up HF but everything went well. Will be using it tomorrow on my Ferrellgas contract, which is a pain in the ■■■. Also will use some HSC 400 degreaser on a couple of the trucks. Will DS it at 50:1 to see how it goes and go from there. I’m afraid it’ll take the decals off so want to try it pretty weak first. I’m hoping the Fleet Prep is strong enough to break the film and just use my Supersonic instead of the 400.
I was having a hard time with my Ferrellgas trucks. Talked with Chad at Hydro-Chem and he said I could try that to see if it would help with these trucks. I’m going to try Fleet Prep and then my normal #2 but if it doesn’t work then I’m going to with the 400.
Were did you get HF from ?
Nevermind, didnt read it right. Fleet prep and dyna clean should do the trick. WATCH the glass Amigo. Little trick I’ve learned is to soap the windows with your #2 first to protect it from HF,then do your normal 2 step. I do all motor bays first so I always start with dyna clean or what ever I’m using at the time, then clean my gun out on the windows.
One of the reasons I have been so scared (hesitant is probably a better word) of HF is the windows. I know, don’t let it dry! I will pre-wet them just in case they are warm from the sun to help cool them off. Hit them with my #2, I could just pump spray this right?
Yes.
You don’t do motor bays ,so DS it would just waste what’s in your gun. High ph soap cleans yes ? But it also neutralizes acid. So if you pre treat your glass with soap and it dries ,it still has a protective layer. Pre treat with water and it dries, no protection.
Capiche?
Impossible, but yes try. I also try not to get it on roofs. But it happens all the time. Just rinse well and get plenty of your #2 up on the roof to neutralize what’s up there. Rinse till you see no white residue, just like you always do. I get my #1 all over, avoiding the roofs though, Glass mirrors etc…wait till you see how shiny the mirror posts, chrome, SS will look. Your gonna be hooked man, lol. It’s like cheating.
I move all my trucks around, wash one ,park it away from the next ,etc. So I don’t know how close yours are together. So what I’m saying is. Be very careful of over spraying the hot dry unit beside you with your #1.
Cuz I’m built for distance. @dperez is built for speed .
Hes cringing because A , we are talking about 2 stepping, And B , I’m taking to long on moving stuff around on my own and washing, and doing whole motor bays . Lol
And C ,we’re talking about 2 stepping, .
I agree with @dperez alot on most all topics and issues.
The only thing is ,I do more of a catered, A La Carte wash ,Not by choice, it’s just the way it is in my neck of the woods.
Anyways, 2 stepping gets them cleaner, shinier, and over all just a better looking wash, is it slower than Up streaming in the beginning ? Can you make a little more money upstreaming in the beginning, Yes, because you’re quicker and not buying acid. ,now the cons of upstreaming IMO , you go through pump heads ,you can’t go back to buffer tank ,so you really, really got to keep an eye on you pump temperature and unloader. And at some point, you have to brush the whole entire fleet, fleets again, due to road film build up
So in the looong run who is less costly ,Is the real question.
But there is need for both in this industry, That I believe in ,for sure.
I’ll be upstreaming by late this fall hopefully on a selected
Number of units… Then pestering they crap outta @dperez to get it dialed in correctly till he gets tired of me and says to pound sand. But I’m like a hemorrhoid, I just keep coming back.
