Truck washing (Soaps, Tips and Tricks)

Aren’t they polished aluminum? I’ll have to send you pictures on WhatsApp. I still have not been able to post a picture from my phone on this forum since whatever update or whatever was done a couple of months ago.

Nope… Its 2 step time baby

I’m going to price myself out of it to be honest. I don’t want to drive the 30 miles to do it, while having to probably haul water as well. >$200 is my guess. But this guy is in Idaho and who knows if he will pay me. I’ll have to get him to sign my estimate to accept work before even going down there.

@Hotshot does 2 stepping get rid of aluminium oxidation by any chance? Old weathered aluminium I guess? Or am i confused here? I have a little run about dinghy that I take out in the harbour. What’s my method?

I believe some pontoons are polished. Ours sure isn’t. They look more like a piece of cast aluminum that has been sitting on an ocean beach for 40 years. Your HF acid might not even be enough for them…lol

That’s exactly what I’m talking about. That dull matte look

I’ve been surprised how well these rubber scrubbers get the aluminium to shine with there fancy acids

Yes sir, Thats what HF is for, The nastiest oxidized stuff , If it’s not real bad then an phosphoric acid is used, Then Citric then ABF acid, ABF being the safest for a light shine on higher polished aluminum and not disturb the rogue polish.
You don’t necessarily have to 2 step to clean and shine aluminum,Acid will work by itself, But 2 stepping helps speed the process and also leaves everything ph neutral for the earth, Unlike y’alls SH :face_with_hand_over_mouth:
.
Your method should be ,Get a high concentration of HF aluminum brightener at the local truck stop or farm store etc, we Put 20% HF in a poly sprayer you’ll need probably 35 to 40 % , Fill with water, Start from bottom to top of your unit, wait till it stops foaming, Rinse from top to bottom. when we HF aluminum this process takes about 15 to 20 seconds to complete on a 24.5 class 8 aluminum truck rim. We also DS our Acids like y’all do SH, But you need a really strong HF for this to be effective.

Have you seen the pictures of after @Hotshot not only cleans them but also polishes? It’s amazing.

It has been awhile since you’ve thrown up some of those pics Sean. Let’s see a few of those high dollar jobs.

I’m going to have a little play with this stuff in the near future.

I believe I have somewhere on here?, I was blown away how well they get em clean. Truly a work of art.

Hey guys, I haven’t been on here in a while. I can’t believe this post has progressed this far,
(I also can’t believe I’ve read every post either)
Although I am a ‘Sud’s Slinger’ to all of you ‘Rubber Scrubbers’, I have had a few requests for quote’s on fleet washing. I’ve got the chems from Hydro-chem and I have the pulse pump from Kleen-Rite, I just need to get the time to throw it all together and test it out . I would like to know if anyone has experience with the pulse pump and any hints to make it work better.

That is @dperez that can help you there

@Hotshot as you know my Hy-Vee account went away since they closed all fulfillment centers.i cleaned all their trucks for the last time 2 days ago. I may be able to talk them into washing their box trucks once more though. I’m going to pitch degreasing the engine bay and whitening all the aluminum. Do you think I can just foam the 400 into the bay straight from the jug? The foamer pulls at 15:1. I’m thinking of charging an extra $10-15 for the whitening and the engine degreasing. More of a detailed clean than a normal fleet clean. I figure it takes me 12 minutes to wash a straight truck. Adding on the whitening and degreasing shouldn’t add more than 5-10 minutes tops, I’ll foam the 400 into half the engine bay and then clean as normal, do the second half the same way and then hit all of them with the acid on the tanks

I just charged $275 each yesterday George for a go to auction cleaning on 10 day cab frac sand trucks with 48’ belly dumps with a DOT and engine bay degreaser and brightener. Degreaser I DS straight in engine bay, inner fender wells, inner hood etc first then let it dwell for 4 minutes, then rinse, then DS HF with no dwell time then DS Grizz no dwell time then rinse again to neutralize the HF , Takes longer than you think, I charge $50 for that service and $15 for and additional Brightening of any aluminum, Get it while you can buddy, If them engine bays haven’t been done this whole time its gonna take you longer than 15 minutes because you’ll have to debris all greased joints beforehand @150 degrees or better. We just lost a 30k a year gig because the fuel prices are to low.

I was saying an additional 15 minutes on top of the normal 12 minutes it takes me. So close to 30 minutes for each.

I’m about to send the email out to try and get that one last cleaning in.

I’ll call ya…

Anyone running a clutch on your pump? What are some good brands to use that aren’t crap? I have a LANDA PUMP LM4035R.3, 4.8 GPM@3500 PSI, 1500RPM

I did not even know that was a thing till I saw it on FB today. General pump makes good products but im not sure if they will work on yours.
