I maybe joining you guys with some part time rubber scrubbing. I have a friend that is over a large repair shop for a global trucking company. He just asked me if I would be interested in giving them a quote on cleaning 125 units (day cabs) weekly or bi-monthly. Current guy is just washing with soap and water for $25 a unit. Any insight you guys got for me?

What kinda of gear ya got Mr Kyle ?

I have a wand that sprays water… lol. I’m looking at a hot water 8gpm for my next purchase, but waiting to see about this job before I pull the trigger on a hot water unit. I do only residential now with a few commercial thrown in for good measure

We have all 5.5 machines to conserve a little water, If you ain’t worried about water, Go bigger like an 8gpm that will suit all your washing needs. I Got one particular job im gonna be using a 10gpm soon, Ain’t good for crap nothing else but that one job and bragging rights…
What soaps you planning on using ? You wanna upstream or 2 step downstream or 2 step upstream with a 2 step gun ?

I have an alkota 5.5 belt, so that will work then. Maybe just an add on heater?? Thinking of 2 stepping upstream. I know nothing about fleet washing so I’ve been reading like crazy the past 2 days to see what’s what.

You aren’t gonna be able to do it efficiently without hot water, especially in the winter if you live in a colder climate.

New unit with heater or add a heater? Which one would be better?

How serious are ya on this ? I mean i can steer you towards a $500 set up you easily build yourself or a $2000 turn key setup. 125 units even biweekly aint peanuts.

Well your gonna need 110v to run a hot box ,so that means a good generator, or you can buy another alkota hot washer turn key. Thats a fine machine btw. If you already have a generator then I’d say get a 110v hot box only to add to what you already have.

Pretty serious. The job is basically mine if I want it. My buddy makes the call and he is very unhappy with the current washer. So I can even keep the $25 a unit. That’s a $6200 a month add on at bi-monthly. I will just buy a new unit if I end up doing it. I’m going to talk with him more about it this week and get a plan down for everything they want done and when they want it done

If it were me I’d try to up that price about $8 ,10 a unit, your gonna use top quality soaps for that task and do it properly im assuming. Soap alone on a day cab tractor cost ya around $3, 4 a unit if you want a pristine wash. take ya around 7,8 minutes to complete if its unhooked with no motor wash. Once ya get comfortable.

I gotta go wash , just hit 30 here, So if ya got a butt ton of questions fell free to PM me , Ill hook you up with all the places to buy whatcha seek

Thanks buddy. Have fun.

What size is your water tank? Is there water source available to stay hooked up to while washing?
I’m not sure they would go for another $8-$10 a unit. $25 a unit for a 125 piece account would be amazing.

I think you should start off with a hot box. Downstream your chems, Sean or I could point you in the right direction for all the pieces you need to buy for this. Do this for 2 months and then get another 5.5 machine and a quality 2 step gun or 2.

Obviously Sean and I are partial to Hydro-Chem soaps. Their 2 step gun is $2000, or you can get that 2 step gun, 4 kits (8 pails) of soap and free shipping for $2800 (which is the route of go if I were you as it is cheaper).

They have a water on site. That maybe the way to go. I would like to get the whole 2 step gun set up as soon as possible but I may take your suggestion and start with downstreaming at first

I would make sure it’s something you want to do first. Go out and downstream once or twice to see if you enjoy this side of cleaning. If you do, you’ll be able to buy the gun and a new machine after your first or second wash with them.
