Truck washing (Soaps, Tips and Tricks)

I wouldn’t say I have the leads. I’m just a persistent mofo. I stopped by 3 places today and I may pick up 2 of those contracts. SAPP brothers is one and Heimes Corp is the other. Heimes Corp is the one the sister in laws nephew does. Talked with the guy and he said the prices were way under what their current guy does. And I’m just using Blue Beacon pricing.

Get a single insulated 6’ lance with the 2315 suttner easy pull gun, ceramic ball ,then just use a black soap tip to DS. 6’ dual will kill you in weight .

I only see myself using it on the very front of tractors and straight trucks. I have no problem getting my soap up in those spots, it’s the rinsing that kicks my ■■■ sometimes. Guess I could just swap out the gun at the hose to rinse.

I thought about getting this Karcher gun but I’m not sure I like the hose in front of the trigger

I like these 96" aluminum lances. Lightweight and you could just switch lances to rinse.

Don’t know what that gun is 4. But if you wind up doing full size tractor trailers, your definitely gonna want a 6 footer to hit the tops a side frames. Makes life way easier

That gun is for us old people…haha

Pull the trigger and the pressure coming out of the lance pushes the gun into your palm making it so much easier on the hands

Lol. I get it. But what’s the psi and gpm rating on it. I couldn’t use it ,just because of the hose in the front, I always go with a 12 gpm gun ,so I can DS at the right ratio and length of hose

My landa guy has a box of 50 that he literally can’t give away. Absolute junk

I will stay away from them then

I will say don’t forget to reach out every so often. Had 35 business cards I have accumulated in the past 45 days. Emailed all of them and within 5 minutes had a guy say he was interested and I have an appointment on Thursday to sell my services. This was from a client I had reached out to previously but never heard anything back from them. Persistence is key. What’s the worse that happens? They don’t give you any business? You were no worse off than before you started emailing potential clients with follow ups.

Good for you man. We got all we want and can handle. No more wheeling and dealing for us ,thankfully and hopefully those days are behind us for a good long while.

I had my local Landa guy reach out to me recently and he showed me one of these…my first thought was that it looks like something that would come with a cheap electric pressure washer with the hose in front and all.

All the landa dealers got them. I have about six of them. I think he sends them with deliveries to tick me off

You want to buy a ton of them?

Heavens no I only have eyes for ST-1500’s

I hear ya. Once a month on my weekly guys,I’ll get up on the motor and hand wash the top of the roof and sleeper with 2 different brushes with a light degreaser, then put down a nice layer of hot wax when finished. I’m that anal…

Needing a little help. I had an appointment this morning with a local distributor and I will be cleaning their vans once a month. Stopped next door to see if Hy-Vee needed their trucks cleaned and the regional manager said they were looking into that today but asked if it was legal here in Omaha. I explained the clean water act. I just got off the phone with the local Water Quality Division supervisor and he explained that I would be compliant as long as the water does not go to streams, which sucks because the storm drain there goes to a stream. He said my way around it would be to discharge into vegetation. Are there any cheap alternatives for picking up the water, filtering and then discharging to vegetation? I don’t have the money to throw at a couple thousand dollar system right now. Would a shop vac with some filter system work? Any of you guys using something like this?

Also, would you mark up for filtering? If so, what would you mark up or do you accept that as the price of doing business?

Discharging to vegetation and filtration are 2 different animals. You can block the drain, creating a pool, then discharge to vegetation via a trash, sump,or submersible pump. But you gotta watch the pool as to not let it run your pump dry, also you need a power source, 115v, or combustion motor. Harbor freight has all of these. Or if your lucky, then bag the storm drains and have it diverted to the vegetation area via gravity, mean the way the parking lot lays with no curb.
