Looking forward to the video Rick. Are you hanging on to your trailer rig?

For sure. In fact just waiting on them to get new trailer built and then I have to start on it. Grizz foaming at bit to get his hands on mine so he can start his build. Truck is nice but I like having everything that I can carry on my trailer. Of course I went over some on truck so need a month or 2 to recoup some, lol.

@Racer you putting airbags on it?

@Racer That’s a really nice rig, judging from the breakdown. Thanks for posting your build list…so helpful!

The breakdown shows Timbren SES bags for $260.

More pictures please, Rick! I’m looking at a nearly identical truck only 4x4. You’re just teasing us

I dont know the brand names lol. That’s a great price though. All the ones I’ve looked at are 400 plus.

They’re like $215 plus tax, then my car shop guy charged me about $30-40 to put on.

I kind of wanted a 4 wd but when talking to some guys that run larger fleets of these, most go with 2wd for long term maintenance, plus I still have the avalanche. I’m trying to make as bullet proof as possible so as to not have downtime, though I wish it had pw windows and door locks. But finding nice ones are hard. Took me well over a year. But make sure you get the 8’ bed.

The 6.0 rocks though. I’ve got 3K + lbs in the bed and it pulls my 6K lb trailer like a champ. Though it does sag about 3", even with the Timbrens.

I definitely agree that a 2WD is less to go wrong. We don’t get much snow where I live but we’re in the mountains so even a light rain makes everything slick as snot on a doorknob. 4WD makes life just a bit easier when you really need it. You can always add an aftermarket power window and locks kit. I don’t have any experience with the aftermarket power windows but the power lock kits have always been reliable for me. I like airbags for vehicles with constantly changing loads because you can easily adjust them but for a tight like yours that will always be set up with the same load I would go with Hellwig helper springs. I had a set on my last truck that added 2500lbs and that little half ton would barely squat at all.

Nice! Can’t wait to see the whole thing. What’s that 5.5 gpm NT pump, are you trying out the bleach pump they’re selling?

Hey rick nice build man! I have the same truck and airbags in it. I just installed this Compressor that has a self leveling controller so that it will keep each side at the factory ride height no matter how much the weight fluctuates due to fluid in the tanks. You inflate to the factory 12” between the tires and wheel well and then mount the sensors. No gauges or buttons just keeps each side individually level at all times. Good info. Didn’t know could add locks. Remember, you’ve got a lot of weight on rear, so even in light snow 2wd should do pretty good. I remember the days when none of us had 4wd drive unless you had a jeep and we’d just throw a few hundred lbs in the bed and off we’d go. If it’s going to be your only truck, then 4wd would be nice, but considering most the time other than lite rain probably not using it.

Timbrens do great unless I’m hauling trailer, which I don’t that often now. For the price of those airbags, that’s like a downpayment on another truck, lol.

No doubt. My first car was 4wd then I went without it for almost a decade until I bought the new truck. Now I would have a really hard time going without it. I just look at it as another tool in my toolbox and when I need it it’s there. Here’s the truck I’m looking at. I’m hoping to go check it out this week.

They’re asking what you gave for yours but this one does have slightly higher miles.

What’s the payload on these things?

About 3500lbs in that configuration I believe. In my opinion (and many others) GM under rates their trucks pretty significantly. I’m sure it has to do more with braking than what it can actually handle but my old boss had one nearly identical and we loaded over 4000lbs of rock in it and it wasn’t touching the bump stops. Personally, I wouldn’t want to do that regularly but for the occasional extra heavy load it would probably be okay. Of course, throw on some stout tires and a set of 2500lb helper springs and a 3500lb load would be a stroll in the park.
