Troybilt Pressure washer headaches

Hello,
Let me start by saying I wish I would have discovered this website sooner. I recently purchased a Troybilt 3100 PSi pressure washer and was pressure washing a driveway yesterday when the connecting rod shot through the engine block. Great. I was able to return it to the seller (Guy on facebook, very lucky he exchanged) I get the new one today, drain the oil completely, fill it up with specified amount, and the thing starts spewing smoke. I call customer service, get case numbers, alert corporate, then I drain half the oil and try again. This time it runs for about 4 hours (runs out of gas constantly) before the O-ring in the gun blows out. Now i’ve tried to replace the o-rings but they of course do not fit so I am two days in the hole and am really hating this POS. If I am ever able to crawl out of this massive trashfire what would be the best pressure washer to get moving forward for business use? A simpson? I understand Troybilt sucks but this is frankly unbelievable.

My game plan - #75 by Nashvillewash.

Throw that troybilt away and stay away from simpson.

“Stay away from Simpson”.

My Simpson is a GX 390 with cat pump, works perfectly. I think you mean steer clear of their AAA pumps.

Edit: I see it’s for business. Bare minimum is going to be a 4gpm machine, 5.5 and up is ideal. Don’t worry about PSI, it’s the GPM that counts. If you can swing it now, spend the $1500 on a 5.5gpm belt drive and be done with it. Personally I couldn’t afford that so making do with a 4gpm.

Well I purchased one because a lady I do landscaping/general labor for in my free time asked about pressure washing for an upcoming event she is hosting and I found one new in box on FB and have since spent way too much time trying to pressure wash one (Large) driveway. Along the journey though I discovered the world of pressure washing and while I know I am just scratching the surface I am interested in the business model and how it could be applied in my area.

Rent one

I agree I would rent one. You can get done what you need to do and take it back. Anything you get from a big box store is going to be junk right out of the box. People sell these Troybuilt and Husqvarna pressure washers for cheap because they are only meant to be used a few times a year to clean patio furniture…basically throw aways… if it even lasts a year.
