If a customer asks me I say “that’s one of the questions I get all the time, when it’s cool or wet I don’t really worry about it and I’ve never lost a plant (I never have), when it’s hot or dry conditions I wet the plants, apply my mix, rinse the vegetation again, let the mix dwell and rinse everything a last time”. No one has questioned me.

I just did a housewash last week that had elephant ears across the back. I tried to ‘pre-soak’ them but the water beaded right off. I think it has a natural repellent coating on them. I suspect the surfactant will stick more so rinse really well after.

Really though you’re probably not going to get much on the actual leaves as this is just a surface cleaning.
