To ball valve or not to ball valve

The ball valve in the link isn’t rated for 4000 psi at 200 degrees. Would it be safe to use this with a hot water machine?
I’m using hot water for this first time this weekend. I want to purchase this for safety reasons.

I’ve used a ball valve since day one and I’m ready to ditch it… Just unneeded weight straining the coupler on the gun and your wrist.

The thing It benefits most is filling up a water bucked unattended.

One way around that issue is to get a 6ft whip line, and let the ball valve assembly lay on the ground while you spray. That’s how i just set mine up, but i haven’t put it to use yet.

You dont feel that ball valve rinsing is better than wand rinsing?

Is it not hard to open/close without pressure?

This is the one I ordered because it’s rated to 190 degrees at 4000 psi.

I use a short gun for nearly everything so it’s not really any different than what you’re talking about. No ball valve necessary and you don’t have to fight with the lever action of a 24" wand pushing back at you.

I did what @tireshark is talking about and bought a 6 foot whip line. I was thinking the same thing. I don’t want to fuss with something hanging off the gun.

Then you’re dragging it thru the dirt or pavement all the time

You won’t like that one. Harder to turn, catches on everything.

The one you bot might be, but no, it’s just a ball valve. Guys I don’t even notice it, weighs maybe 25 oz. You’ll need to go to the gym if the weight bothers you, lol. I’ve run mine at 185 deg before, but normally run mine around 165 max. I’ve never needed 190 deg water.

The big advantages are changes implements safely, rinsing, especially concrete, opening your line up if you don’t want to stand there holding nozzle, adjusting flow, cutting in say along an edge and you don’t want to have to plug in your wand for 5 seconds, applying soap, especially on concrete or up to about 10-12’, knocking down hornets nest up to about 25’, the list goes on. It’s the single most versatile tool on my trailer.

So try the one I rec instead of the one you bought. I’ll give you the money difference. I tried one like you say you ordered and absolutely hated it. But someone must like if they still sell them.

Well you got a picture so no need to upload one. By the way I have a valve similar to the one you bought (Squid) I have no problems with it. I guess I’m just use to it…

@squidskc

Can you define a " short gun" or a pic? First time I’ve heard of that.

That burn looks ouchy. :unamused:

I’m ordering one like you got and a swivel as we speak. I’m gonna set one up like in your video and one for hot water days on the whip line. If I copied your trailer I might as well copy your ball valve set up. Lol

Correction: Two swivels. I forgot I needed one for both. So now I’ve just sent Pressuretek $200 in two days for stuff I thought I’d never need. lol

I’m gonna give it a shot. Why not test both? Don’t knock it until you try it right? Btw I’ve recorded a couple videos for YouTube and I’m gonna throw my website links in there like you said. They’re silly videos, but I don’t really care if they drive traffic.

That’s actually what I’m doing at this moment is piecing them together in iMovie.

tips or x-jet go right in the gun. the burn isn’t bad. It could’ve been worse. Way worse. Only really hurt when it happened.

Maybe it’s gummed up or something’s banged up in there.

Cool send me the link . by the way you can upload them to your FB page too.

So @squidskc, I’m confused a little. Why were you trying to disconnect the gun from the hose?

Why not just pop the xjet or tip off the other end of the gun and pop the gun onto the surface cleaner, so you don’t have to shut the machine off?

Oh, nevermind. The gun got stuck.
