Ok, so here’s a stupid question for everyone. I am mounting my new titan hose reels and on the handle side, there are 2 wing nuts with 2 nylock nuts above them. Can anyone tell me what these are for? Here’s a pic.
The parts diagram below is for the aluminum but I would assume it’s similar. he Hannay reel I have has a mechanism by the handle that you can lock down to keep it from turning. It looks like Titan uses the wing nuts to accomplish the same thing. I bet they just placed the nylon lock nuts on the wrong bolts.
The wing nuts are #14. They need to go on the bolts labeled #13. From your picture it looks like the wing nuts are in the right spot. The lock nuts shouldn’t be there.

@marinegrunt is correct. The wing nuts are for the brake on the reel. It prevents the real from free spinning when pulling off the hose.

Yep. And I’m pretty sure the lock nuts are there just so you don’t lose the wing nuts
