Tips for a new entrepreneur in small ticket pressure washing

Hello, I am a 19 year old student. I am planning on taking small ticket jobs like can cleaning. I would appreciate if people could help me out with the technical aspects of the business, regarding quoting, tickets and marketing. I live in Toronto, and I have a budget of around 300-400. I plan on getting a cordless pressure washer.

Welcome…

I just have to ask, what is ‘can cleaning’ and why would you want a ‘cordless’ pressure washer?

I believe he’s talking about trash can cleaning

Who wouldn’t want a “cordless” washer?! I just think it… and its there!

Can cleaning is trash can cleaning. And I want a cordless power washer, as I plan on starting with smaller jobs, and don’t have the capital to purchase a proper power washer nor do I have the transportation needed to carry one.

I have about 11 cordless pressure washers, but, so we are all the the same page here, what so you consider a cordless washer to be?

Low pressure (lower than 1000psi) preferably electric/battery charged and typically a fraction of the price of a commercial pressure washer. Something that is handheld and doesn’t weigh much.

I appreciate your hustle, but you can’t really do anything with something like that. Find a contractor near you and work for him for a year or so to learn the trade and build up a nest egg to get insurance and equipment. And read a lot here.

Thank you for the advice. Also what is a nest egg?

Nest egg is savings to be able to afford better starting equipment and insurance in case you accidentally damage something while working. Accidents happen!

I used Google in case y’all don’t have Bing up there in Canada

Don’t start another thread with the same question please. It just clutters things and we derail enough threads as it is.

Oh, sorry. It’s just that when I tried to reply using the link sent to my email it brought me to the bottom. And I couldn’t see my post. I thought the post was gone so I made the new one. Sorry for the confusion.

Sun Joe electric pressure washers are incredibly cheap and readily available at most places like Walmart and other big box stores. They’re actually not bad either or at least the couple I’ve used were fine for what they are. I’m sure they’d be capable of cleaning a trash can out if you had a decent soap to help lift off some grime. Hell, one I used even came with a turbo nozzle and it actually worked pretty well for being such a small machine.

If I were you, I’d probably get some kind of cart to tow behind the bike so you don’t have to carry stuff on your back. Have a cap on a bottle of degreaser come off and leak all over your back and you’ll be hating it.

Thank you very much I will look into the product from sun joe, and will invest in a cart for the bike.

Just curious, what can you get for cleaning a can in Toronto? Unless you had a lot of them close together, not sure of the profit potential. You’d need some serious route density for it to make sense.
Also, what you plan on doing with the dirty crap that comes out of a can? Cant imagine city would appreciate you just dumping on the sidewalk.

I have taken your advice about getting a trailer. Since I now have more space I decided to to get the Sun Joe electric pressure washer( the bigger one. )

There is no way this conversation and events are actually happening
