Tin roof advice

As a test i ran my fridge at the house for 41 hours off of this without recharging. Weighs 16 pounds

I got a guy that trades me scrap metal for tinkering services. He has a ton of pipe. I’m a scrounger lol

Why aren’t you using logs from the cut down trees?! That’d be sweet.

Bonus points if you chainsaw carve a totem pole with you and your boys as woodland creatures. You’re definitely grumpy bear.

That was my next suggestion

In the 70’s i pulled peanuts where the cabin is now. Dad had pines put in about 20 years ago. Not good for firewood and not real big, fortunately

So scrounge up $60, LOL. That’s too nice a place to go with pipe.

Needs to be be wood, trees, or store bought

I’m keeping my boys busy though.

How long will AC run on batteries? Its hot in early season NC around here

I’m still looking into that. Worst case is I’ll bring the generator down. I’m only wiring for 12 volt led lights, ceiling fan and 2 outlets for 110. Trying to find an rv style with a soft start capacitor

10-4… thats a good looking camp though… $3k seems like a steal of a price.

My buddies cabin up in mountains, we added a few exhuast fans in the vents up top to help air out that and disperse and it seems to help a bit.

Many years of fun and memories ahead there.

You need a deck under your porch, pallets ?

Pipe works well enough for vertical compressive loads, not so well for structural stresses, horizontal loads, or moments of bending.
It would look way better with wood columns, and be much more stable. You would have to bolt the 2x6 through the pipe, and also the kicker (brace)… and with only one bolt in the kicker, it would not work as intended. No doubt I would go with wood columns, or see if your buddy has some 4" beam

Thanks for tips. Grandma’s porch had black iron posts holding it up. I’m doing the columns similar to that and putting a rocking chair on the deck for dad to reminisce old times. He was born on a kitchen table about 20 feet from where this cabin is. Old family land.
