I have searched and read just about every post on this site related to Thumbtack. Many posts are from 5+ years ago, so I don’t know if they are still relevant. Im trying to generate my first leads and I need some help. I have 2000 door hangers to deploy and Im in the process of ordering yard signs. I want an opinion on Thumbtack
It seems like some people like Thumbtack, others don’t. So, should I try it out? Or is it just an undercut competition? Also, like 5 mins after I signed up for Thumbtack, some guy from the company called me and said he wanted to be my “account manager” and that my area has more demand than supply. Is this normal?
Years ago i signed up for Thumbtack free. They kept sending me leads for things I don’t do in places I don’t go then harassing me when I didn’t respond (i.e. pay) for said leads.
I don’t hear good things about them. The supply being greater than demand thing is a line of BS.
Here’s a video I watched that, I think, does a pretty good job of explaining some of the downfalls and serious problems with those types of companies today. It’s about Angie Leads, which is AngieList that now owns homeadvisor, doesn’t really matter because it’s all a snakepit for most people. It’s worth the time, IMO: Is Angi Leads Worth It For Business Owners?
Well, this thread led me to not try thumbtack. I’ve heard about them through a friend years back and he got most of his electrical work clients through it. I always assumed they were one of the good ones but I never dived deep into it and I didn’t realize they charged per lead. Most aren’t good and some charge yearly membership fees on top of it.
On the other hand, maybe that’s why my electrical friend does pet grooming now.
