Thoughts on tow/work vehicle

I’ve been operating my WC and PW setup out of a 4runner, and things are super tight. Anyone have thoughts on a Nissan Frontier 6’ bed? I really would prefer something smaller as I do have trouble lifting ladders on something taller like these full size monsters being produced now.

I doubt this is what you’re looking for, but here is my current setup - the bed is ~76" x 54":

I do not have ladder racks at this time, but I should be able to add them, at least to the driver’s side. Likely the passenger side also. In all honesty, up to this point, I really don’t need them.

The truck is a 1998, 4 cylinder, rear wheel drive with about 192K miles on it. The payload-rating is just under 1,500 lbs and will tow (I think) a 3,500 lbs trailer.

For the 2 ladders you can see in 1 of the pictures, I just slide them, on their sides, between the reels and the PWer and then use a bungie to secure them. So far it works great, except the Little Giant is 54 lbs and a bit cumbersome, but it is what it is.

60 gal buffer tank (black) and 30 gal chlorine tank. 2 GP DHRA50450 (18") hose reels, PWer and Softwash setups, 200’ of flexilla 5/8" garden hose, 200’ of suttner psi hose and 200’ of 5/8" polybraid for the softwash.

So far, I’ve been able to fit everything I need for each job. Yes, it get crowded, but that’s part of the choices I made. :+1:

Packed up, ready to go:

I thought long and hard about going midsize, but I knew I wanted the option to haul water if need be and their payloads basically ruled them out for me.

That’s a clean little rig. Just keep a good eye on the condition of the wood. Don’t want it to start to rot and lose your reels on a sharp turn!

:+1: Yep, It’s ground contact pressure treated so it should last a few yrs. I’ll upgrade it to a bigger truck later on.

I would encourage you to keep this off the road until you secure everything. The fact that it is posted on the internet at a job site will not bode well if you wreck it driving and those batteries and everything go flying out and kill someone

William! You’re back!

I am trying to be semi retired. I work a couple days a week and the rest of the time is spent on my son’s race car and tinkering
